How to draw a sketch map: When drawing a sketch map, follow the guidelines below:
1. Always use a pencil.
2. Draw a frame for your sketch map. First measure the width of the OS map in centimetres and divide by two. Then measure the height of the OS map and again divide by two. This will be the size of your sketch map frame in centimetres.
3. Put a title across the top of the map. Titles should read: ‘Sketch map of ___________ OS map’.
4. Using a ruler, divide the OS map into eight sections as shown in Figure 1.14.
5. Using a pencil and ruler, divide the sketch map into sections in the same way. This will help you draw the sketch. See Figure 1.15.
