6 NEWS Annual meeting returns to NYC

The Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) will once again hold its Annual Scientific Meeting & Technology Showcase, from December 17-18 2019, at the Sheraton New York Times Square. Now in its 73rd year, the annual meeting is where scientists, academicians, policy makers and other stakeholders in the cosmetics

and personal care community convene to share the information, research and innovation impacting the future of the industry. Growing year after year, more than 1,300 industry professionals attended the 2018 annual meeting. The technical education sessions offer high-level scientific information on the latest topics

Two new conditioning agents launched

Inolex has introduced two new products, AminoSensyl HC and AminoSensyl SC, to its 100% Natural Amino Lipid Technology Platform. Both products are part of

Inolex’s patented AminoSensyl range, a portfolio of next generation conditioning ingredients ideal for the natural products marketplace. AminoSensyl HC is a pre- neutralized, natural hair care active system that provides higher performance and ease of formulation in hair conditioning and treatment products. The system contains Brassicyl Valinate Esylate, an amino lipid derived from valine amino acid, which has a non-quat cationic charge for hair substantivity and a better aquatic toxicity profile than traditional conditioning or strengthening cationic surfactants. AminoSensyl HC delivers significant strengthening, conditioning,

smoothness, and definition in hair applications.

AminoSensyl SC is a natural

formulation system designed for all-natural, luxury skin care products that are gentle to skin and eyes. The patented amino lipid technology enables self- emulsifying formulations that stabilize high oil loads and deliver a soft, velvety aesthetic. The system combines the primary active cationic structuring agent, Brassicyl Valinate Esylate, with the nonionic structuring agents, Brassica Alcohol and Brassica Glycerides, in an optimized ratio for ease of formulation. “The AminoSensyl range of premium products checks off all the boxes of desired benefits, including differentiated esthetics, a safe environmental profile, and 100% naturality for brands seeking to deliver efficacy and sustainability to consumers,” said Rocco Burgo, chief scientist at Inolex.

Award for bio-based and renewable range

Croda International was awarded the 2019 Bio-Based World News Innovation Award for ‘Bio-based Industry Story of the Year’. Croda were nominated for an article detailing the launch of their new 100 percent biobased, 100 percent renewable range of non-ionic surfactants, the ECO Range.

The ECO range of bio- based surfactants is designed to meet increasing market demand for sustainable, high- performance ingredient options. This range provides 100 percent bio-based and 100 percent renewable options that reduce the reliance on fossil fuels and lower the carbon footprint of these ingredients versus their petroleum-based alternatives. By simply replacing a petroleum-derived ingredient with its renewable variant, a

significant improvement in bio- based content and renewability can be achieved without a sacrifice in product performance. The awards, announced on 2 April at the World Bio Markets Conference in Amsterdam, bring recognition to leading innovators from across the chemical industry for biobased business successes. Croda was an exhibitor and presenter at this conference, discussing sustainability challenges and how they can support customers in overcoming them.
