On dry hair, the treatments with the active texturizing agent, silicone oils and quat provided a statistically significant (p<0.05) decrease of the hair combing force versus before treatment, according to Figure 8.

Placebo DefinicireTM Silicone oils Quat Consumer test

The active texturizing agent has been formulated at 2% in a leave-on anti-frizz serum and a rinse-off mask conditioner. Two groups of at least 10 volunteers, with different hair types, have evaluated the products over a period of one week. They were asked to give their opinion at the end of the test. Volunteer answers showed that the active texturizing agent is adapted to all hair types and it offers key benefits to leave- on and rinse-off hair care products.

An expert sensory analysis panel has evaluated several attributes on Caucasian hair tresses after application of a cream containing 2% of the active texturizing agent and a placebo formula. First, tresses have been washed. A quantity of 4 g of product has been applied on tresses, left for 2 minutes and rinsed with water at 37°C for 30 seconds. Then, wet hair properties have been evaluates. Tresses have been dried with a hair dryer, and dry hair properties have been evaluated. A scale, in 5 points from 1 to 5, was used to determine the difference between the applied products. Based on Figure 9, the active texturizing agent enhances the smooth feel of wet and dry hair without imparting any greasiness or dull appearance. It has no untangling effect but it slightly increases hair substantivity. Moreover, the texture of the formulation and its application onto the hair are not modified with the addition of the active texturizing agent.

Conclusion Definicire reinforces the hydrophobicity of the hair. It acts as a lubricant decreasing friction between hair fibres. It ensures hair discipline (frizz and volume control, curl definition even under high humidity), inhibits the effect of static electricity, facilitates combing, enhances hair smoothness and protect the hair from pollution. Definicire can be formulated at 2% in all kinds of emulsions and anhydrous formulations, except transparent systems. It is generally added to the oil phase where it is solubilized by melting at 70°C. Possibilities for application are various : rinse-off conditioners and masks, pre-style treatments, after-style options (anti-frizz day creams, protective hair sprays and lotions) and men’s lines (beards, styling gums and waxes).
