Tackling dry skin with new bioactive

At in-cosmetics Global 2019, Lonza launched the newest in its portfolio of bioactives, H2OBioEV bioactive, a multifunctional cosmetic ingredient that revitalises, rejuvenates and moisturises skin.

“H2OBioEV bioactive moisturizes by replenishing essential humectants, which provide an optimal environment for epidermal proteins to form and maintain a strong barrier, thus restoring a smooth and radiant appearance,” said Vanessa Arruda, PhD, global market development manager, Bioactives. “It is an evolution in moisturization, to refresh and revitalise skin.”

ISSN 2631–4894 May 2019 PERSONAL CARE NORTH AMERICA EDITOR’S COMMENT Looking East for inspirational new formulations

Personal Care will be hosting the ‘World of Chemistry’ presentations on the second day of the NYSCC Suppliers’ Day this month with the aim to offer a global perspective on the personal care market. It is so important to have a good understanding of emerging trends and new technology emanating from other regions in this highly consumer-led industry. With the emergence firstly of low cost travel and then, more recently of social media, trends that might have taken years to travel across the world before, now take a matter of months or even weeks. Brands (and of course, consumers) are always on the lookout for something new, exotic and more effective. In recent years the first place to look has been Asia, with Korea and Japan leading the way in terms of innovation. We will be having a close look at the reasons for this in ‘World of Chemistry’, so we hope to see you there on May 8.

stabilizing environment for functional skin proteins

 Stimulating the expression of proteins essential to forming and maintaining an optimal skin barrier function “The modern consumer has

different needs and

expectations, which change the way she or he chooses products,” Dr Arruda said, referring to a recent

Euromonitor survey. “Rather than looking for a specific type of product, consumers are looking for cutting-edge technologies that provide particular functionalities. They recognize five categories of functionality in cosmetic products: rejuvenating, age defying, age reversing, beauty enhancing and imperfection correcting.”
