faster absorption kinetics. Especially in highly rich W/O emulsions a low dosage of bamboo fibres considerably reduces the tackiness and increases the absorption of a lotion.
Silicone-like sensory effect An important aspect of modern formulation design is the replacement of non-biodegradable silicones. Cellulose fibres can mimic certain sensory attributes typically associated with silicones.
This includes smooth, gliding application, soft-
focus skin finish, and a dry, non-greasy after-feeling. These effects are achieved through the
physical interaction of fibres with the skin surface rather than through film-forming chemistry.
Spreadability and absorption The application of fibres improves the rheological behaviour of formulations, leading to easier spreadability, more uniform film formation, and rapid absorption without residue.
Solid and anhydrous systems In solid formulations such as sticks and balms, cellulose fibres contribute to structural stability. Their network-forming ability enhances homogeneity, mechanical integrity, and resistance to phase separation. This results in stable, visually appealing products with a consistent texture profile.
Fibre based lash extension in mascara Fibres are widely used in mascara formulations to enhance lash length and volume. Conventional fibres are typically synthetic, raising sustainability concerns.
Bamboo cellulose fibres provide a plant-based alternative with similar functional performance.
Mechanism During application, fibres align along the lash and extend beyond the natural tip, creating a lengthening effect.
The benefits include increased lash length and volume, lightweight feel, flexible and comfortable
