In a seminar on the Latest K-beauty


market trends, Mike Sohn from Korea Cosmetics Industry Institute (KCII) will delve into the Korean make up market and explore what’s hot and what’s not for the ASEAN consumer. In Premiumization beauty with key global


trends in APAC, Ruby Bui, senior research analyst at Euromonitor International, will discuss the move by manufacturers to develop premium, higher-priced products with unusual or rare ingredients utilising more sophisticated formulations. Also focusing on APAC, Stacey Fraser, director at Nature’s Blueprint is set to take the stage with an informative seminar on native beauty products from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Further enhancing the chance to explore


this year’s Spotlight On topics, three Marketing Trends seminars will take place to offer an in-depth insight into three of the industry’s biggest trends. Suddhanya Gisbert at Mintel with lead a Spotlight On Suncare session to discuss the latest ingredients and consumer trends in protection, tanning and after sun. With brands increasingly under pressure to reconsider their product formation strategy to address a changing market landscape, Sumit Chopra, director Research Analysis at GlobalData will present a Spotlight On Clean Beauty session reviewing the key trends in ingredients, textures and formulations that are driving the ‘Clean Beauty’ trend. Finally, a Spotlight on transforming formulations seminar will highlight some of the most innovative new products on the market.


Reflecting the Spotlight On focus, there will be over 75 exhibitors showcasing the latest products in sun care, including after sun, protection and self-tanning, from the likes of Bloomage Biotechnology, Michang, Equipforskin, and Guangzhou Tinci Materials Technology. The hair care sector will also be well represented, with exhibitors such as Momentive Performance Materials and Zhongbao Chemicals covering everything from colouring and styling to shampoo and conditioning.


A brand-new zone


The Halal beauty market is thriving due to both growing consumer awareness for the usage of animal-derived ingredients and increasing demand from Muslim consumers across the globe for Halal-certified products. Forecasts predicting an incredible 15% increase year-on-year are putting the sector on track to reach over $54 billion by 2022.


PERSONAL CARE ASIA PACIFIC


Recognising its significance in the beauty and personal care market, particularly in the Asia Pacific region, in- cosmetics Asia will launch a brand-new Halal Cosmetics Zone for the 2019 edition. The dedicated area will give R&D professionals expert advice and insight into the industry’s leading and latest Halal- certified materials, ingredients and technologies, totally free of alcohol, animal fats and harsh chemicals. Providing a hands-on experience, the Halal Cosmetics Zone’s interactive Test and Try area will offer a space for visitors to sample innovative ingredients via display formulations, as well as directly connect with Halal-certified suppliers to build strategic business alliances. Rounding off the offer, the zone’s free-to- attend Discovery Theatre will offer a programme of thirty-minute presentations showcasing the latest Halal-certified products and ingredients. Presentations will be delivered by key speakers including Ir. Muti Arintawati, vice director for The Assessment Institute for Food, Drug and Cosmetic, The Indonesian Council of Ulama who will explore the Halal requirements for cosmetics, comprising materials, facility and products, and provide insights on the criteria outlined in the Halal Assurance System (HAS), a requirement of the Indonesian Council of Ulama. While Dewi Rijah Sari, executive chairman of Indonesia International Cosmetic Association (IICA), will share insight on the evolution of Indonesian Halal regulations and what implications this has for cosmetics businesses. She will complement her session with a brief overview on upcoming Halal standards in Indonesia.


Technical Seminars At the free-to-attend Technical Seminars, visitors can familiarise themselves with the most up-to-date beauty ingredients whilst listening to key insights on innovative ingredients, technical claims and formulation techniques directly from the ingredient suppliers.


Over thirty raw material suppliers will


deliver presentations, sharing their in-depth knowledge of the solutions that their ingredients can provide and the supporting scientific evidence to substantiate the associated claims, as well as giving invaluable hints and tips on how to put the ingredients into practice to meet specific consumer demands. Each Technical Seminar will last thirty minutes, hosted by a vast range of leading ingredient suppliers including Brenntag Holding, Givaudan Active Beauty, Troy Corporation and Mibelle Biochemistry.


A hands-on experience Visitors will be able to gain first-hand experience of the latest ingredients and formulations across many of the free-to- attend learning platforms including the Formulation Lab.


The interactive training sessions at the


Formulation Lab will be open to all R&D lab staff working for cosmetic and contract manufacturers, helping them to learn the secrets to winning formulations directly from personal care ingredient experts. There will be twelve sessions over the three-day event, with speakers from top-tier suppliers including Nikko Chemicals, Gattefossé, Innovacos, Clariant, IFF – Lucas Meyer Cosmetics. Offering visitors another hands-on experience and the chance to see, touch and feel the latest beauty ingredients on the market, Mintel will return to in-cosmetics Asia in 2019 to host a series of Interactive Sessions at the Innovation Zone. Mintel will offer three daily demonstrations, showcasing the top 10 Asian products that are currently making waves in the market, along with a presentation of their latest research and an interactive Q&A with attendees.


Exceptional exhibitors With more than 530 exhibitors set to showcase their latest products at the 2019 edition, visitors can be confident that they will connect with the right people to meet their business requirements and needs. From manufacturers of raw materials and ingredients to lab equipment, software suppliers and testing and research providers, there will be something to satisfy everyone at this year’s event.


As longstanding supporters of the in- cosmetics show portfolio, a number of leading companies will return to Bangkok to exhibit at the 2019 edition including the likes of Gattefossé, AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry, Lonza, Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, Evonik Dr. Straetmans and Sun Chemical. In addition, over 100 first-time exhibitors will join the line-up at in-cosmetics Asia this year such as Echo Chem SDN BHD, Hainan Zhongxin Chemical, Jiangsu Unicollagen Biomedicine and Sanyo Chemical.
