The Asian beauty and personal care market has seen explosive growth over the last decade and continues to evolve, powered by new trends such as a demand for natural ingredients, novel product concepts and beauty for all genders. According to Euromonitor International, the region currently holds 32% of the global beauty and personal care marketplace with an expected CAGR growth of 6.7% to 2024. Looking to tap into the opportunities this buoyant market presents, thousands of industry professionals and ingredients suppliers will come together in Bangkok this November for in-cosmetics Asia 2019, the leading event in the Asia Pacific region for personal care ingredients. Heading into its 12th edition, this year’s show follows a record-breaking event in 2018, where over 11,000 attendees descended on the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) – an increase of 10% year- on-year.
in-cosmetics Asia will deliver the perfect location for visitors to hold face-to-face meetings and cultivate profitable connections with ingredient suppliers from all over the world. In addition, visitors will meet and learn from peers and industry experts through a leading line-up of exhibiting companies and revered educational seminars, helping to further grow their professional network within the cosmetics and personal care market.
Shining a Spotlight On The ever-popular Spotlight On programme returns to the exhibition this year to provide chemists and marketers with a chance to learn about the latest trends and explore raw materials in three of the market’s most topical areas – clean beauty, transforming formulations and sun care. The area aims to help R&D teams easily navigate and source unique ingredients that will enable them to develop innovative products that deliver tangible benefits to the consumer. Consumers across the globe are
increasingly aware of and concerned by the negative impact of artificial ingredients in

beauty products on both the consumer and the synthetic environment. This desire for ‘Clean Beauty’ is driving demand for products that are chemical-free, more natural, safe and sustainable, leading many brands to take a more holistic approach on selecting ingredients, capitalise on natural product claims and build wider marketing strategies that resonate with consumers seeking clean and natural beauty. The Spotlight On area will explore this overarching trend, while in-cosmetics Asia exhibitors with products supporting the movement will demonstrate how brands can incorporate clean ingredients into their formulations.
Due to the increased awareness of potential skin damage amongst the millennial generation, sun care is a hot topic, and one that is set to be very lucrative within the beauty and personal care market; market research provider, Mintel, state that the Asia Pacific sun care market was estimated to have reached US$2.65bn in 2018 with China’s market alone estimated to grow at a value of 11.6% CAGR from 2018-2023. This Spotlight On topic is reflected in a significant number of exhibitors showcasing in this
category, including the likes of BioAktive Speciality Products who will display their range of natural ingredients including Castorline Wax Jelly, a vegetable alternative to petrolatum, and Seiwa Kasei, who will display many functional ingredients alongside their core products including Protesil - multi-functional hybrid polymers with a silky texture and hair colour protection. The final topic will explore the unique
ingredients which transform properties, texture, viscosity and appearance through formulation or application, such as an oil which turns to a milk when applied with water. Young, tech-savvy consumers are more likely to experiment leading many cosmetic manufacturers to research and create a fun-to-use range of products with a quirky multi-use. These three topics will be well-represented by in-cosmetics Asia exhibitors, with a host of companies already confirmed to showcase their products at the Spotlight On area including the likes of Croda, Givaudan, Cargill Beauty, Nikko, Azelis and Rahn.
