Nevada - Park MGM Resort bans smoking After a pandemic shutdown in March, Park MGM plans to reopen at the end of September as a nonsmoking casino and hotel. It’s the first Las Vegas resort that won’t welcome smokers. The new policy applies to MGM as well as NoMad, its hotel within a hotel. “It’s something that we’re looking forward to definitely continuing for the long future,” said Anton Nikodemus, who heads the company’s Las Vegas properties. “As we had seen an increasing amount of guests looking for a nonsmoking alternative, we finally felt now would be the best time to make that decision.”

Scientific Games has confirmed that a number of long-term institutional investors, including gaming industry investor Caledonia, have reached agreement to acquire a 34.9 per cent stake in Scientific Games from MacAndrews & Forbes at a price of $28 per share.
Scientific Games is implementing a series of governance changes and enhancements, including refreshment of its Board of Directors and termination of the Stockholders Agreement with MacAndrews & Forbes, to reflect its new investor base and continue to position the Company for growth and value creation.

System issue closes tribal casino in Sacremanto

On September 20, Cache Creek Casino Resort in Northern California closed and remained shuttered the following Monday due to a ‘systems infrastructure failure.’
“Due to an unforeseen systems infrastructure failure, Cache Creek Casino Resort is unable to operate fully at this time,” stated the casino. “We have made the unfortunate, but necessary decision to close the resort,” which it did at 7 p.m.
Earlier in the day, the casino announced it was experiencing a “widespread” outage that started around 3:30 a.m. and remained “problematic.” Cache Creek first discouraged guests

Cache Creek remained closed as of 9 a.m. Monday, social media posts by the tribal casino indicate, and no estimated time for reopening has been given. Te property says it will inform customers via social media and its website as soon as it is able to reopen, and that it will directly notify any guests whose reservations at the resort may be affected.
“Tis temporary closure is not due to COVID-19,” the Cache Creek Casino Resort wrote on Facebook in response to multiple users’ comments speculating, without evidence, that the closure was actually related to the coronavirus pandemic.
