Argentina - Codere strikes Walmart deal Codere Argentina has struck a deal with supermarket chain Walmart that will see its employees have the opportunity to work, temporarily, in different stores in the province of Buenos Aires. They will temporarily replace 117 Walmart workers who are currently on leave.
Codere said: "The company is in a very complex situation as it has been paralysed in 100 per cent for more than 150 days. Since then, Codere Argentina has put at the center of its efforts the maintenance of the sources of work and the employment of its most of 2,700 employees, and this solution is in line with this priority."
Codere Argentina is the largest bingo hall operator in the Province of Buenos Aires, with a total of 14 halls in operation are more than 5,200 slots installed.

Te Buenos Aires Legislature has given casinos in the city permission to run online gambling. Te new bill means that both the racino and the floating casino will be allowed to operate online facing versions of their operations.
Te initiative forbids those currently under investigation for illegal activities from taking part in the process. Lawmakers also approved a number of player protection measures and a law aimed at preventing gambling addiction. Both initiatives were approved during the session composed both in person and via the internet.
Online gambling was approved in 2018 but has yet to be launched. Licences could be granted in October. Te government hopes to raise much needed income from the scheme as the economy continues to struggle in the face of COVID-19 and an ever deepening recession.
In addition according to the Lottery of the City of Buenos Aires (LOTBA) illegal online gambling has increased fivefold since the beginning of the pandemic.
Player protection measures include the prohibition of ATMs and pawn shops near
betting rooms, the installation of clocks and a record of voluntary self-exclusion. Te norm was approved with 39 affirmative votes 17 abstentions and four voted against it.
Te initiative to prevent harmful gambling was based on 10 dossiers that addressed the same problem, and aims to prevent pathological gambling "in any of its forms" and to "raise awareness in society about its existence and avoid its harmful consequences at the individual, social and family level.”
LOTBA and other areas of the City Government will be in charge of putting into place the different measures as now enshrined in the new law.
However the new bill came under fire from deputy Myriam Bregman, from the PTS-Frente de Izquierda party who commented that the Legislature “far from dealing with any issue related to the pandemic, has begun begins to launch the mega business of online gambling, it is a scandal because it is known that in this context of confinement, it has became a scourge, above all, for the poorest families and the youngest.”
Colombia BtoBet teams with Toplay for Rappi integration

Coljuegos is partnering with officials from the IT and Communications Ministry and the industry association Fecoljuegos, to protect licensed online gaming operators in Colombia. Te three entities have signed a new ‘pact for legality’ to promote lawful practices within the online sector and will be introducing new methods to block illegal ones. Coljuegos President Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo said the agreement will sanction illegal sites repeatedly requested to bring their operations into compliance. “We will track those domains, some of them based overseas, to block them and prevent them from damaging our local industry,” Pérez Hidalgo said. Coljuegos revealed that 4,131 illegal websites have been blocked so far with new measures to be implemented to restrict the access of foreign sites.
