IAGA SUMMIT FOCUS: GAMING TECHNOLOGY
INSIGHT IAGA SUMMIT WASHINGTON, D.C. - MAY 28-30, 2024
HOW THE ADVANCEMENT IN TECHNOLOGY EXTENDS BEYOND PRODUCT INNOVATION TO DEVELOP REGULATION AND INTEGRITY IN SPORTS BETTING
Te real opportunity the advancement of technology will provide for the wider sports betting industry the ability to collect, analyse and utilise deep data at scale through automation technology. Deep data is key for sports federations and rights holders to unlock new commercial opportunities and create strategic touch points to further engage fans.
At Sportradar, we have started to leverage deep data to develop new, innovative products such as Sportradar 4Sight and emBET in the audiovisual space. With Sportradar 4Sight, key stats and data points from a live match are incorporated into a betting stream, educating bettors about the sport they are watching, to help foster understanding and inform bets, driving further engagement of both tennis with ATP as our partner and basketball with the NBA. Te new emBET product is designed to enable sports fans to place bets without leaving the sports federation’s own channels; they can now access everything they need in one place. We’ve recently launched this with the NBA for their League Pass holders. We are only scratching the surface and the potential and future of this space is indeed very exciting.
Micro betting is another avenue that technology will expand, facilitating further enhancement of the sports betting experience. Tis is where the industry is heading and technology is enabling Sportradar to create new betting markets. A whole raft of new markets will emerge, providing new opportunities for sportsbooks to reach and engage new audiences with smaller, quicker bets on more focused aspects of each sport. In markets where in-play betting is legal, this will offer more choice and a greater level of detail for sports fans, around aspects such as length of rally, winning shot placement, where a serve will land and so on. Micro betting will be a real game-changer for our betting operator clients, enabling them to offer a wider range of products for their customers, starting with one or two sports initially before expanding into more sports. Tis is where the technology will truly underpin the further advancement of the industry.
More widely, protection of the industry and what it offers sports fans will be another avenue that will greatly benefit from technological advancement, especially regarding sports integrity and regulation. Tis is where automation at scale will be key, as it relates to keeping sport fair and ensuring the betting industry can operate legally and transparently, providing confidence about its reputation. Sportradar continues to invest in the development of technology to further improve the accuracy of bet monitoring and detection of match-fixing in sports globally.
Our track record in integrity is a tremendous success story both for Sportradar and for the
