(Page 105) allow a carer to assist washing a person in a level access shower without getting themselves wet! Carers can lean over the screen to wash a person’s hair and back, and then fold the screen out of the way to free up the space in the bathroom when drying or dressing the person.
Red Grab Rails
(Page 70) are ideal for people with visual impairments or dementia.
Bath Hoists
(Page 82) can be a good option for people who are unable to lift their legs over the side of bath but who still want the benefits of bathing. They have the option of a detachable seat which can be helpful for smaller spaces (seat can be stored outside of the bathroom) and for people who like to transfer in the bedroom and then remain seated to get into the bath.
Shower Trolleys
(Page 84-85) are suitable for people who are transferred by hoist in the bedroom and then wheeled through to a shower area to be washed in a lying position. They enable multiple carers to work at the correct height to suit them – reducing strain and risk of injury.
Wall Mounted Shower Seats
(Pages 86-88) fold to allow other members of the household room to have a shower unimpeded. Options available with arms and drop down legs to provide more support when standing or sitting.
Tilt-In Space Shower / Commode Chairs
(Page 102) are useful for people at risk of falling from an upright shower chair or who have difficulty sitting upright due to muscle spasms or weakness. Tilting the chair can allow carers to wash a person’s hair more easily and comfortably.
Mobile Shower / Commode Chairs (Pages 98-103) are either self propelled or pushed by a carer and can be used over the toilet or in the bedroom as a commode as well as in the shower. They save on storage space as the person would not require an additional commode, toilet chair or frame.
The NRS range of long handled bathing accessories (page 107) can assist people who have difficulty reaching to wash
in the bath or shower. Other accessories can help carers (Inflatable Hair Wash Basins) and prevent falls (such as Non-Slip Bath Mats).
Freestanding Shower Chairs (Pages 96-97) enable a person who has difficulty standing for longer periods, to shower in the wet room or larger shower cubicle whilst sitting. Some are wheeled to allow a person to transfer into the chair in another room and be moved safely to a bathroom.
