1 Mermaid Bathing Hoist
An ideal solution for people who need or want to have a bath but are unable to lift their legs over the side of the bath when using conventional equipment. The Mermaid allows a carer to raise the comfortable seat over the edge of the bath and lower a person down into the water. The lift is available in a manual (winding handle) version or an electric version (which people can often operate independently). The seat can either be sited at the side or the end of the bath on either wooden or concrete floors. Comes supplied with a lap strap for added security. This is an ideal solution for people who want to bathe but have difficulty transferring on and off a seat, are struggling walking to the bathroom safely or if there is no space in the bathroom to transfer safely. It allows a person to be transferred in the bedroom (possibly using a hoist there) and then pushed through into the bathroom. The chair is then detached from the base, clipped onto the arm of the bath hoist and the person is lowered into the bath in the same way as the Mermaid Hoist.
