It is of vital importance to choose the correct solution to your moving and handling needs. This will help to prevent injury and ensure safety and comfort when moving in any situation.
EXCLUSIVE DESIGN Transfer Boards
(Pages 116-117) are designed to bridge gaps and enable a person to slide across from one surface to another, with or without carer assistance. Good upper body strength and balance is important to enable the safe use of transfer boards. Curved boards are useful when transferring to a chair with a fixed armrest.
Handling Belts
(Pages 118) can be placed around a person’s waist to provide an extra grip for carers when assisting a person
transferring or during walking practice – they should not be used to lift. The NRS range of handling
belts comes in sizes to suit most people, from small children to larger adults.
Slide Sheets
(Pages 120-123) allow a person to be repositioned or moved across a level surface easily and comfortably. They are made of a slippery low friction material and should be removed immediately after use. One way slide sheets can help a person move up a bed or chair safety and prevent them slipping forwards.
