Provoking a passion

day-by-day accounts and inspiration from franchisees across the globe. One of the pleasures of editing the magazine is hearing fi rst-hand accounts of how people have succeeded in growing their business and how the magazine can share that inspiration to others. Inspiration can come from almost anywhere and at any age, whether you’ve decided to take the franchising route early on in life, or perhaps you needed a change from the everyday in your latter years. It can be a comment from a friend or an article in a magazine, but it is never too early or too late to follow a dream. Moreover, according to new research carried out by Samsung, there has been a rise in recent years of people pursuing a career that they are passionate about (you can read more about that on page 10). Finding your calling in life is inspirational, but what I have really admired this month is how businesspeople can inspire their clients. This issue, we chatted to a selection of franchisees that have taken the plunge into the world of children’s services. Not only are they running a business for themselves, but they are also nurturing and creating passion in little ones as they grow. Watching a physical example of your work fl ourish must be one of the most satisfying

W

elcome to the bumper October issue of Business Franchise magazine, which is brimming with features,

things, right? What’s more, you don’t have to have a background in the sector. Take Water Babies franchisee, Derek Lambie, for example. Before becoming a franchisee for the swimming school, he was the editor of the Scottish Sunday Express. He now runs a successful franchise in Stirling and has never been happier inspiring kids to dive in at the deep end. Turn to page 70 to read why four other people decided to invest in the sector and how they are inspired everyday by the children around them. But, I can’t fi nish this month’s editor’s letter without mentioning how this is the National Franchise Exhibition Show Guide edition. Taking place from September 30 to October 1, the exhibition is the largest British Franchise Association-accredited event of the year. If you turn to page 33 you’ll fi nd all you need to know about the two-day event and where each exhibitor will be. Plus, the magazine is full of exhibitor profi les so you can read up on the businesses before you go to the stands. From all of us at Business Franchise, we hope you enjoy reading and it inspires you to take the fi rst step into franchising. Enjoy!
