margins for themselves and the added bonus of being in control of their work diary and the customer relationship. The franchise business operates with minimal reporting because Ovenu wants franchisees to be focused on cleaning ovens and making money, not fi lling in forms and reports. Franchisees directly manage their work diary and deal directly with the customer, taking payment for their service.

Ovenu managing director, Rik Hellewell, explains some of the reasons behind the continuing success of the brand: “Our philosophy of putting square pegs into square holes goes part-way to explaining our recruitment of successful franchisees. The Ovenu start-up package offers potential franchisees a realistic opportunity to own and run a profi table business. By retaining limited company status, we’ve kept our initial investment level affordable for business-minded, practical people
hen it comes to oven valeting and cleaning, Ovenu is a clear brand leader. It has enjoyed great success in the
to get a head start in this niche market that we operate in. We therefore appoint franchisees that fi t our required profi le precisely.” The recruitment process that Ovenu operates gives both sides the time and information needed to make the right decision, and includes a period spent at the head offi ce in Wokingham and out with a franchisee so that all new recruits understand how the business ‘ticks’ and what their role is. That approach has played an important part in Ovenu’s continued success in the UK and overseas, and 2016 has so far been another very good year for everyone involved. The Ovenu business model is straightforward to operate and manage, with the franchisee generating good profi t
The Ovenu business model is tried and tested and currently operating successfully in the UK, Australia and the US, and the company has been under the ownership and control of Rik for more than 20 years, now boasting 100 franchisees in the UK. There are both new start-up opportunities and existing franchise territories available. Ovenu offers two business models: the easy reach, based on about 30,000 households (£13,000) and the standard model based around 60,000 households (£20,000). The initial support and comprehensive training that is provided, together with probably the best website within the franchise industry, ensures that you get off to the best possible start with your new Ovenu franchise, as well as having social media and additional ongoing support. The main ‘cog in the wheel’ that drives the business forward, though, is the franchisee. The franchisor has the systems and brand, and franchisees must possess the enthusiasm and determination to succeed. Rik knows and believes that for a franchise system to fl ourish and prosper it must operate as a partnership, with each party fulfi lling their respective role and giving total commitment to the business and their many, many customers. Ovenu has some exciting plans for 2017 that will provide even greater support and systems to help franchisees win new business and manage its existing client base more effectively and profi tably.
