The Organic Farmer’s Market, located in New York City, is one of the best places to shop for food. It is outside in union square and there are
many little stands where you buy your groceries. I talked with some owners of the stands. They said, everything there is homemade food product or organic food. These people come from their own farms, such as Connecticut, and they come to New York to sell their farm-product directly every week. The Organic Farmer’s market has almost every organic food you can think of. To pies to apple ciders to vegetables to flowers. They have it. There are many markets within The Organic Farmer’s Market but I do have some favorites. “First, I really enjoyed Beth’s Farm Kitchen jam market. This has been going on for about 30 years. They have the best tasting jam ever and the best part is that they are 100 percent organic. There are no artificial flavors or anything! Lets say that they were making some jam. What they would do is that they get fruits from nearby farms and they would storage it. When they need to make some of their jam, they would take a fruit out of the storage, and then squeeze the juices out of it.
After that, they would pass it through a funnel and it goes straight into a jar. Then what they do is, they put all of the jars in a bowl and they boil it. When the time is up, you have the most delicious jam on earth. “I also enjoyed the Ronnybrook stand. They started in 1941 and this is the third generation that has been doing this. They make milk, ice cream, yogurt, butter, and yogurt cheeses and they are all very organic. Their milk is pasteurized but they are not homogenized. So when you drink some of their milk, the cream
floats to the top of the glass. Their yogurt is very creamy and refreshing. I am not a big fan of yogurt but I have to admit, when I had some of this, I was in love with it. This yogurt is high in calcium as well as protein. The ice cream is made on the farm and they use milk and cream from their very own cows. Their ice cream is creamy and delicious too. The butter that Ronybrook made is fresh churned and naturally, has an amazing taste. Last, but not least, is the yogurt cheese. They are made from plain or nonfat plain yogurt. This has more calcium than any dairy product.
“Another place that I liked to be at The Organic Farmer’s Market was all of the flower shops. This was one of the things that I saw a lot when I was there. Flowers here, flowers there, and they were all so beautiful. They weren’t that expensive and they had the widest range of flowers. There were a variety of colors of flowers. Many people were buying the flowers. They were so eye catching and it was hard not to go over and smell the flowers or look at what the prices were for them. “The Organic Farmer’s Market is definitely a place to go to one day. You can get the best things there. Sometimes it is even better than going to some super market because all of the things here are natural and the foods there are in the best condition. Yes, The Farmer’s Market may be smaller than a regular super market, but they are much bigger in quality.
