and continued to build on his relationship with him as well. None of this was calculated nor expected; it was all organic.

Soon after Q graduated college in Seattle, he took a trip to LA in search for his dream job at a major production company. Persistence does not begin to describe what he was when he would send his resume via snail mails, e-mails, faxes, and in-person to the HR department. How he actually got his first job though, is another epic tale.

During his trip in LA, Q found out that the Academy Awards will be taking place. Rather than sitting at home and watching it through the small screen, he decided to take a closer look at the event since he was in town. All suited-up, Q headed over to Hollywood, not expecting anything more than getting a far-sighted peek of celebrities waving their hands to the crowd. Catching the glimpse of the entertainment world he had always dreamed of, Q was caught in the moment of festivities when he discovered a fenced off area in the back where production staffs were walking in and out. It included a group of Asians, which back then were hard to be spotted at major Hollywood events. He suddenly had this crazy idea of crashing the Academy Awards by blending in with the group of Asian staff and somehow succeeds. Turns out, the group of Asians was staffs for the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which was distributed by Sony Pictures and won 4 Oscars that year. That was where Q met his first boss and was offered a job at Sony Pictures Entertainment. Talk about organic opportunities.

Q’s relationship with the Korean Entertainment Industry began when he became the primary marketer and distributor for the theatrical and home entertainment acquisition of the 2005 Korean box-office hit

”Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (태극기 휘날리며)” to the US Market. He joined Sony Korea in 2009 and supervised the launching of key figures of Korean entertainment industry into Hollywood, including Jang Dong Gun(장동건), Lee Byung Hun(이병헌), Jun Ji Hyun(전지현), Kown Sang Woo(권상우), and Big Bang’s TOP.

Q first met Scooter Braun when his girl group Blush was opening for Justin Bieber. Soon after PSY’s Gangnam Style went viral on Youtube, Braun is interested in buying the rights to the song, possibly to remake it for Justin Bieber, and contacted Q to get introduced to the key people to make it happen. Thinking this can be an opportunity for something more than a simple remake, Q acts as a liaison between Braun and YG Entertainment, brining not only Gangnam Style but also PSY himself to the US, resulting in a major revolution of Korean entertainment worldwide. No one could have predicted this nor could have planned it, but Q’s passion and enthusiasm for the entertainment industry and all that is linked to it has brought Hallyu one step closer to the global market.
