Old Hallfieldians go Bowling 3 On a day more suited to sun-bathing or swimming some intrepid Old Hallfieldians met on Saturday May 22nd at BowlPlex, Five Ways for a bowling session.


It was lovely to see them and find out how they were getting along at their senior schools. This is an annual event so maybe all you younger Old Hallfieldians should make a date in your diaries for next year!


Who was there?


Lochan Sidhu, Shiv Sarna, Aaron Odedra, Sachin Jalota, Edward Cooke, from King Edward School; Hannah McArthur, Ciara Rehan, from King Edward’s High School for Girls; Alex Black from King Edward’s Five Ways; Azeem Hanjra and Edward Saunders King Edward’s Camp Hill; Manvir Chahal King Edward’s Aston; Karam Sandhu King Edward’s Handsworth; Leo Jackson Old Swinford; Nick Empson Solihull; Joanna Brown EHS; Many thanks to Sanj Kumar and Shiva Misra for organising the event.


Old Hallfieldians are


National Champions 5 Saturday 8th May saw the last rounds and final being played of the U18 ESSA (English Schools’ Swimming Association) Water Polo competition in Walsall.


Three Old Hallfieldians were playing for King Edward’s School, Birmingham (KES) – Joe Harrison, Andrew Macarthur and Harry Cowley. KES became the National Champions 2010 after beating Manchester Grammar in the final.


A penalty shoot out was needed after a 3-3 draw when the final whistle was blown. Andrew Macarthur scored the 3 goals in the final for KES. The penalty shoot-out was won 3-1.


The following weekend, on Sunday 16th May, they were playing again - this time in the Warwickshire Cup Final 2010 at Wyndley Leisure Centre. KES beat Boldmere 25-6 in the final. Another Old Hallfieldian was playing for Boldmere, Hamish Scott, although he also plays water polo at KES!
