Sporting Highlights 2009/2010 Hockey
The U9s had a successful first season. They were confident in moving the ball around the pitch but still need to work on passing the ball forward. Both the U10s and Vixens had a victo- rious term playing hockey with both teams win- ning most of their matches. The Vixens in particular took the hockey season by storm and were both strong in attack and defence.
Netball
The U9 squad had many fixtures involving both an A team and B team. The girls worked well together and were dominant in most fixtures due to the superb shooting skills of Aaliyah Wallace. The U8s also had a fixture against Winterfold School. The team demonstrated lots of potential and should have a good season next year. The U10s and Vixens had numerous fixtures, both teams were strong and fought to win most matches. The Vixens also took part in the Prestfelde tournament, although they made it to the plate final, unfortunately they lost the cup in the last few minutes.
Rounders
A beautiful and rare sunny summer term ensured the girls had many fixtures. The U9s and Vixens were dominant in all of their matches. Well done girls. The U10s although strong in practice sessions sometimes panicked in match situations and made some careless errors in judgement. The girls have taken this on board and are determined to succeed next season.
Football
Our Under 9s won the Prestfelde tournament for the first time and were very strong in regular fixtures.
The Under 10s improved greatly with a lot of movement between the two teams. The A team played many close games and the B team remained unbeaten.
The Colts played some fine Football in all formats of the game. They lost in the semi final of the Shrewsbury tournament. Throughout the Autumn term they were unbeaten and only lost one match in the Spring term when the emphasis is on Rugby.
Rugby
The Under 9s showed excellent strength in depth with our A and B teams putting in some sterling performances against some strong opposition. Competition for places was fierce and made selection difficult.
The Under 10s were excellent, winning all of their matches in the age group and only losing once to the eventual winners of the Hallfield Under 11 tournament.
The Colts were disappointing and lacked the discipline and cohesion required for the 12 a side game.
Cricket
The Under 9s were very strong and lost only one match by 2 runs. The Under 10s adapted well to hard ball Cricket, winning 4 and losing 1 match.
The Colts made a big improvement with some stand out individual performances by Pavan Suthi, Saroop Nandra, William Turley and Adam Shah. They won 3 and lost 3 of their matches.
