Open Wide! 7 On Thursday 12th January, one of our parents, Mr Ashok Takhar, came in to talk to the children in Year 3 about his job as a dentist.

He showed the children a range of teeth in various states of repair and discussed the importance of oral hygiene, especially during the important time when primary teeth are being replaced by secondary ones.

He finished the session by giving the pupils a disclosing tablet to highlight areas of their teeth that may have been a little overlooked in the cleaning process and left them all a brush each to start the good work correcting it!

Year 4 Visit Enginuity in Ironbridge 31

Budding Jenson Buttons had a chance to design and build an electronic buggy and then race it against the clock at the Enginuity exhibition that they visited as part of Science week.

They had to work in teams, each given a specific job within the team to ensure that the design objectives were met – that the buggy moved - preferably in a straight line, that it was well designed and showed their sponsors colours.

If that wasn’t exhausting enough they then went on to study the internal structure of a range of equipment including an electric guitar and a crash helmet. They learned how to build an arched bridge and how to protect buildings from earthquakes – a very relevant topic in a year that saw the devastation of Haiti.
