Le Petit Déjeuner Français - Year 1

Saturday January 16th On a damp and dismal morning an enthusiastic group of children from Year 1 proudly brought curious family members into the inviting and appropriately decorated Pre-Prep hall where a range of French pastries and hot and cold drinks were being served.

Once hunger had been satisfied, Year 1 confidently performed five of their songs and rhymes for the audience who were very appreciative of the children’s efforts. Songs included topics about bodies, counting, birthdays and movements.

After lingering for chats and a final cup of coffee with friends and staff, everyone departed carrying a French flag and ready to start their weekends after a positive and pleasant morning.

Mrs Sale says ‘Merci!’ to all the staff who joined her for breakfast – and to the children for bringing their families.

Le Petit Déjeuner Français - Year 2 74

I don’t know whether it was the French who invented Nutella spread but it is certainly delicious enough to hail from that country of gastronomic delights. That and Bonne Maman jam – and they were both there in abundance to spread on croissants, petit panne, brioche and, for the really greedy people who pay scant regard to their waistlines, panne du chocolat!

It was a lovely sunny morning down in Pre-Prep on Saturday 19th September and after an early morning attack on the brain cells in the form of a talk to Foundation Parents by Mrs Humphrys, explaining the ins and outs of phonics and how they are taught here at Hall- field, the delicious spread, washed down by fresh coffee and orange juice, was just what was needed to fortify us for the day ahead. The parents of Year 2 pupils were entertained by the children singing French songs they had learned with their teacher Mrs Sales. As you can see by the photograph some of us entered into the spirit of the morning and dressed in true French style – even sporting a jaunty beret! As the French would say Oh Lala!
