Mad Hatters 3 Had Mrs Culek been to see ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and been inspired by Jonny Depp’s wonderful hat when she designed the project for Year 6?
There were certainly some ingenious designs with themes as varied as favourite songs, Snoopy and flags and shimmering patchworks. The hats were made in a variety of materials including various fabrics, paper, card and paint! Then all they needed was a tea party and a white rabbit!
Urban Art for Year 6 5
Year 6, led by Mrs Culek took to the streets with their sketch books to study line and perspective and the design of street furniture.
Year 4 Think Bridget is Brilliant 135
‘Brilliant, amazing, collage,’ Aditya Rokade, ‘Eye catching, creative, astonishing and overwhelming,’ Aliyah Wallace, ‘Inspiring, indescribable, cool,’ Freddie Edge, ‘Terrific, Spectacular and Mind Boggling,’ Adnaan Kadr.
These were the first responses to the work of Bridget Riley by Year 4. A session looking at the buildings round Victoria Square was followed by a workshop on the theme of Telling Stories with Lucy Dagger. They looked at paintings of the Beauty and the Beast, acted out the story and then created lovely masks that the Beast may have worn to cover his ugly face! Paper masks, white and scary!!!!
Mr Walker abandoned his test tubes and Bunsen burners and produced a lovely drawing according to Mrs Culek. Is he hiding his light under a bushel?
