Autocue is aiming to offer a complete live workflow with its new Production Suite, which it claims can replace conventional devices such as vision and audio mixers, video players, picture-in-picture inserters, caption generators, still stores, chroma keyers, routers, output switchers and recorders. All of these functions are contained in a single, integrated system. “When combined with our existing newsroom, automation and prompting applications, we can offer the most flexible

Microlab’s plug in modular range is the eight-position 2U
and most cost-effective end- to-end workflow or ‘studio in a box’ solution on the market today,” claimed Autocue’s CTO, Neil Hutchins. It will typically be controlled
from Autocue’s Automation Control Centre, which provides an integrated workflow control panel that produces a list of automation events from information entered into a newsroom system, either Autocue’s own newsroom software or another NRCS via a MOS interface. Designed for ease of use, a video clip can be started and audio and video switched to the relevant virtual player with a single button push. “Unlike other all-in-one

solutions, our modular, software- based system allows us to include only the elements that are required for a particular workflow, and also to distribute the control functions across a number of workstations. This means we can cater for smaller TV and cable stations with a single operator, or spread the production out over many machines so that, for example, a classroom of media students can all work together on a live show – with each taking control of an individual technical element,” explained Hutchins. The maximum number of I/O ports supported depends on the types of connections required and the video standard/format used, but it is possible to provide a full HD system with eight ports with the full connection option in a 9U rack system. 11.F34
