Datavideo has launched a pair of new multiple camera control units, designed to control four Panasonic camcorders from up to a 400 metre distance.

The new MCU-100 and MCU-200 have integrated features that support the Panasonic camcorders and allow users to remotely control and adjust the camera settings, such as the

recording functions, gain, black/white balance, pedestrals, shutter and iris. The first to ship will be the MCU-100, a desktop version. The MCU-200 will be available later this year and is a 19-inch

rack version.

Both units will come with four adapter boxes, which allow users to connect the cameras with the MCU by using Ethernet cables. 7.D39

The moment you choose the camera you want, not the one your lens requires. This is the moment we work for.

Addressing increased framerates in cinemas

By Carolyn Giardina

The high-framerate and high-bitrate capabilities of the Qube XP-I server and Qube Xi Integrated Media Block are being demoed at IBC. Qube Cinema is

among the suppliers that are beginning to offer these options to cinema owners. Peter Jackson is making The Hobbit at 48fps, and when released in December plans are to make it available to cinemas with optional frame rates including 48fps as well as today’s commonly used 24fps. James Cameron has said that he plans to make Avatar 2 and 3 at high framerates.

Qube says that a single Qube XP-I server running a single DCP can now drive a stereoscopic projection by sending 120fps per eye to each of two Qube Xi IMBs in two projectors. The

company also says that with the ability to play back at 1000Mbps, a single Qube XP-I server is capable of multi-IMB sync, meaning that it could be used to deliver 4k content to two Qube Xi IMBs in two projectors. 7.F45

// FLEXIBILITY MADE BY CARL ZEISS

Carl Zeiss Compact Prime CP.2 lenses Unparalleled versatility: The Compact Prime CP.2 lenses are the world’s first cine lenses designed for all types of cameras. The lenses cover sensor sizes up to the full-frame format (36x24mm), ensuring compatibility with existing and future cameras. Thanks to the unique Interchangeable Mount System one set of CP.2 lenses can be used with all established camera platforms (PL, EF, F, Micro 4/3 and E mount). This offers filmmakers greater flexibility in their choice of cameras and allows them to give full expression to their personal creativity. www.zeiss.com/cine/cp2
