Has IBC come at a good time for the electronic media industry? Why? We’ve been attending IBC on a regular basis for more than a decade. With its growing influence in the broadcast industry, we are sure that it is a perfect place for delegates to explore new concepts and solutions. Also, it is a big occasion for professionals to meet together and discuss future evolutions on both technology and workflow.

What do you think are the key developments in, or threats to, your market sector at the current time?

As far as we can see, highly integrated playout system is getting hot. This trend is obvious, and even some big

broadcasters who used to purchase conventional sophisticated automation systems are moving their attentions to single box automation system.

Why should delegates visit your stand at IBC? At IBC, we will demonstrate iChanel2-single box automation system. Unlike other offerings, iChannel2 brings the playout security to a higher level, and provides various advanced features. Also we will showcase Fresco-high quality multi-viewer system. It handles 20 inputs + 4 outputs from a single 1RU unit. Other products to see at our booth: On-Air Graphics, MAM, and post production. 7B35

ITV gets camera upgrade Sony By Adrian Penningon

ITV has announced investment in a range of Sony acquisition spanning studios to ENG as it migrates to a full tapeless workflow. The UK broadcaster has put Sony HXC-100 cameras at the heart of studio production across its Salford, Meridian and Leeds facilities as part of a major refurbishment project. It has also invested in the

PMW-500 shoulder mount XDCAM camcorders and PMW-EX1 cameras for ENG at its Salford operation, with more of its UK regional operations set to follow suit. ITV’s upgrade reflects its plans to move to a fully tapeless workflow and requires dual acquisition solutions for high quality studio and field-based acquisition for both HD news and regional programming.

“The upgrade is a key driver for helping ITV to meet its current needs and future aims to transition to a fully tapeless workflow,” explained Paul Stevenson, director of Technology and Technical Operations at ITV Regions. “The use of the PMW-500 at Salford ensures operators can shoot longer in the field and the proven fast XDCAM workflow means that content can be turned around within the tight timeframes needed for daily news programming.” Sony’s HXC-100 studio camera, which features in

the upgrade at the Salford, Meridian and Leeds operations’ uses the latest 14-bit A/D conversion circuit and the 2/3-inch Power HAD FX CCDs to bring out high picture quality. Together with the 1.5 RU-size HXCU- 100 Camera Control Unit and a remote control panel from Sony, the HXC-100 camera offers a simple system and the HXC-100 camera also provides a variety of beneficial functions such as Focus Assist function. 12.A1
