theibcdaily Saturday 08.09.2012 Power boost for Filters and Combiners Spinner By Michael Burns

Spinner is showcasing new generations of its UHF Filter and Switchless Combiner ranges in Hall 8. The latest additions to the Filter line

feature high power density and flexibility, ranging from 300W up to 7500W. The Spinner Switchless Combiner is also premiering. In normal operation this product adds the power of two same-channel-

transmitters via a 3dB hybrid.

In emergency operation (if one transmitter fails) the defective transmitter can be removed from the signal chain for repair with zero downtime, claimed the company, while feeding 100% power of the functioning transmitter to the output.

Spinner is also exhibiting compact and expandable rack designs for n+1 systems including channel combiners and switches, solutions for transmitter testing and multi- way measurement couplers with up to four probes. 8.B27

Listening out for loudness

Miranda By Michael Burns

Miranda’s end-to-end loudness solution, Intelligent Automatic Loudness Correction (ALC), is making its debut in Hall 8. The system includes monitoring, logging and correction using realtime processing during the playout workflow. Intelligent ALC uses information fed from a broadcaster’s traffic system to identify whether content has been corrected already – and dynamically avoids the unnecessary processing of content that has already been through.

The end-to-end solution utilises segment-aware

loudness monitoring and logging, which has been added to Miranda’s Kaleido series

multiviewers and, when used in conjunction with Miranda’s iControl system, can accurately log the average loudness per segment. It thus enables easy creation of detailed reports at a later date to meet compliance and reporting regulations. 8.D41
