Touch of class for audio RTW

By David Davies

The ongoing success of the TM3 TouchMonitor is being showcased by RTW

throughout this year’s IBC. First previewed at IBC2011, the TM3 is said to mark the next generation in loudness- compliant professional audio signal metering. The TM3 – which

incorporates features from the larger TM7 and TM9 TouchMonitor versions – is controlled using a 4.3-inch touch-sensitive screen. Featuring PPM and true- peak instruments, it offers comprehensive loudness metering in compliance with all globally relevant

standards, including EBU R128, ITU BS.1770-2/1771, ATSC A/85 and ARIB. Instruments include single-channel and summing bar graphs, an LRA instrument and numerical displays. While the basic version handles analogue and digital stereo

audio, the 5.1 option adds the support of six- channel digital input. 8.E76

Now we are four: The Ki Pro Quad

Recording 4K in solid state

AJA By Carolyn Giardina

TM

AJA’s display of its latest technologies includes T-TAP, Ki Pro Rack and Ki Pro Quad. AJA’s T-TAP for broadcast monitoring is a portable bus- powered device that enables SDI and HDMI output from a Thunderbolt-enabled Mac. With an eye toward replacing traditional VTRs, the Ki Pro Rack uses the same SSD or spinning disk storage modules as the Ki Pro with recording capacities scaling up to 500GB in a 1RU. It can be used to create Apple ProRes 422 or Avid DnxHD files. The Ki Pro Quad is solid-state portable video recorder that supports 4K, 2K, Dual-link HD, 3G and HD, and is designed to help create workflows for those needing to support RAW workflows as well as those who wish to have options such as the ability to record to 4K Apple ProRes directly from the upcoming Canon C500 camera. The Ki Pro Quad – similar in size to the Ki Pro Mini – further offers 444 support for HD-based cameras like the Sony F3. 7.F11
