Head Groundsmen, Calderwood reported that via net- working with peers, learning best-practices, so that as a whole, they could deliver the best possible pitches. In addition, Calderwood explained that the key to the best stadium, with the pitch being the key, Head Groundsmen needed to be involved in stadia new build or renovation projects from the outset. The Division was subsequently going to be setting up Expert Group’s, with the vision being, “to be the leading plat- form for the sharing of information between Head Groundsmen”. As for the Objectives of the new division, Calderwood outlined that, by having a single point of contact when it comes to dealing with UEFA etc., could only be beneficial to all. He also said that the goal was to educate Head Groundsmen to the highest level and integrate them with Stadium and Safety Managers. Through this, they could develop best cases and share their experiences. (Calderwood explained, for example, that within his own club, Aston Villa, he was actually one of the ten top man- agers, joining the Stadium and Safety Manager.) now be a big ‘push’ to increase the number of Head Groundsmen within this new expert division of ESSMA — something which PanStadia agreed to assist with by adding Head Groundsmen from all of the top two Euro- pean football clubs to our next mailing list.


ESSMA Video & Stadium Partners Beattie then went on to debut the ESSMA video, which was taken prior to the Soccerex European Forum, at Manchester City FC. The video includes brief interviews with each of the eight Stadium Partners: Desso Sports Systems, Philips, AwareManager, Bertele, Terraplas, Ever- ris, Stadium Grow Lighting/SGL, and Lagadere Unlimited Stadium Solutions. Each of the Stadium Partners then did a short presentation and Q&A session with those members in attendance. Beattie explained how these eight Stadium Partners


are renowned for their commitment and knowledge, are leaders in their sector, with the latest innovations, and are obviously all offering financial support to ESSMA.
