Marina Bay Sands First Quarter 2012 Financial Performance
“In Singapore, Marina Bay Sands produced a record $472.5m of adjusted property EBITDA during the quarter and an EBITDA margin of 55.7%. Strong growth in VIP, mass gaming and slot volumes, coupled with continued growth in visitation and non-gaming revenue streams, including hotel, food and beverage, retail and entertainment, reflect the broad appeal of the property to Singapore's visitors from across the Asian region.

Sophisticated Technology Both Marina Bay Sands theatres are carefully designed, traditional proscenium style venues, equipped with large orchestra pits, seat wagons and trap rooms. Each theatre boasts the latest technology allowing a multitude of stage configurations and an efficient and seamless set- change for all theatre performances. The theatres were designed for the purpose of supporting a wide range of arts, from large Broadway production shows, special events to headliners. The audio systems were specifically designed for these venues with the ability to quickly patch broadcast- ing capabilities into both venues, simultaneously or independently. There are front fill, back fill and surround sound speakers positioned to ensure the sound is bal- anced throughout each venue and are each comple- mented by outstanding auditorium acoustics.

The Sands Theater opened on Novem- ber 30, 2010, with Riverdance; the spectacular perform- ance that has entertained more than 22 million people around the world in forty countries on four continents. The Sands Theater was home to award-winning Broad- way musical The Lion King from March to October 2011, making it the most successful Broadway show presented in Singapore. The theatre has the capacity to host up to 1,680 guests on two levels. The Grand Theater launched on March 7, 2011, with performances by the legendary Elvis Costello. It can stage a wide range of headlining acts, performing arts and gala events, seating up to 2,155 guests over three levels. And the Broadway smash musi- cal, Wicked, completed a season of 160 performances in the Grand Theater from December 2011 to April 2012. The theatre infrastructure easily supports TV broad- casting capabilities and requirements. Connectivity arrangements enable the theatre complex to tie togeth- er signals from one theatre to the other and from either theatre to TV and Satellite production vehicles. The Cen- tral Control Room is the heart and brain of the theatres’ A/V systems. This room also functions as a central patch- ing and signal routing point for all facility A/V signals. Signal connections to and from the TV truck dock and the Satellite Pad cross-connect in the Central Control Room to several points within each theatre. The Central Control Room is where the technician can interface with the latest audio and video technology, allowing them to set up and operate the stages for world-class acts. Locat- ed on the third basement level, it has easy accessibility to the stage level for both theatres as well as the truck dock where TV production units can be sited.
The Even Bigger Picture: Asia & Spain The Marina Bay Sands project is regarded as a strategic investment by Las Vegas Sands Corporation as it has now become the calling card in Asia and beyond to help per- suade other governments, such as in Japan, Korea, Tai- wan and most recently Spain, to follow the example set by Singapore. Consider, for example, the recent report by The Econ-
