Q: How fluidly is movement represented in the images? A: Panomera® provides image material in realtime and at high frame rates of up to 30fps, which translates to completely fluid representation. And quite honestly, if a video system is really going to help shed some light on certain incidents, that is absolutely imperative. For example, imag- ine someone lit a Bengal firework and you now want to find out who did it. Now, if you have a camera that is only recording one image per minute, at best you might be able to see which direction the firework came from, but you would not be able to identify the perpetrator individually. On the other hand, with Panomera® you can step back one image at a time through the recording until you can see exactly who lit the firework.
Q: That all sounds very plausible, but at the same time extremely complex. Is it? A: Quite frankly, it is difficult to describe Panomera® in words and explain all of its features. You simply have to see it in action. I have had that experience very often when making presentations to customers, everyone who sees the system with their own eyes has that “Ah ha!” moment. We call it the “Panomera® effect”. Panomera® far surpasses the limits of conventional cam- eras. That is why we are constantly stress- ing that Panomera® is not just another camera that purports to offer more meg- apixels than the products of our competi- tors. That is not the point — Panomera® represents an entirely new technology and a fundamentally different approach to the issue of video security.

Q: What is the situation regarding price? A system like this must surely be very expensive.
A: Not at all. Panomera® is the most cost-ef- fective system on the market today! Of course, a Panomera® is more expensive than a single conventional HD camera. But then you only need one Panomera® system to cover the same area that previously required several cameras. Even so, the greatest savings are realised in expenses for the infrastructure. This really cannot be overemphasised. The most expensive factor in installing a camera is not the camera itself, but the infrastructure it needs, that is to say: camera masts, wiring, electricity sup- ply and so on. If you only need a single cam- era installation site, you save an enormous amount of money. For this reason alone, it would pay immense dividends to thor- oughly calculate the cost of a Panomera®- based project!
Q: Would an existing video system have to be replaced completely if a stadium opts for a new Panomera® solution? A: No, existing cameras can be incorporat- ed in the Panomera® concept. For example, a stadium may decide initially to use Pano- mera® to cover the home and visiting fan area, which need to be monitored particu- larly closely, while the other areas can be monitored as before using the cameras already in place. Even so, the entire video system can be monitored and controlled using a single management system. Or, the most practical solution may be to continue using existing PTZ cameras in the visiting fan area, and to integrate them in the Pano- mera® solution. That is easily possible with our SeMSy® management system. The mov- able cameras can be automatically directed at the desired point with a simple click of the mouse at the Panomera® station. Now

the incident in question can be viewed not only via the Panomera® but through the PTZ cameras as well. This enables a differ- ent field viewing angle, for example if indi- viduals happen at the moment to be hidden behind a banner, or again the activ- ity can be displayed in greater resolution. So the two systems work very efficiently together! And while we are on the subject of integration, a mobile solution can be cre- ated without difficulty via our iPhone serv- er. The images from Panomera® can be displayed on an iPhone or iPad, for exam- ple, so that the security forces inside the stadium can have immediate access to pic- tures of anyone behaving unacceptably. This results in faster response times and greater flexibility.
Q: What plans do you have for Panomera® in the future?
A: We are currently equipping several stadi- um sites with Panomera®, e.g. the stadia in Dortmund, Leverkusen and Mönchenglad- bach. Furthermore we are completing project studies for a large number of other customer enquiries. Panomera® is not a mass-produced "off-the-rack" solution for all requirements, we perform the necessary project studies in advance to ensure that the multifocal sensor system is customised and the resolution required by the custom- er is achieved. Our first projects have already been put into operation, because many customers have realised how cost-efficient the system is compared with conventional equipment. And I’m sure that we will be putting many more such projects into oper- ation in the near future.
Q: Is Panomera® Dallmeier’s only product? A: Simply put, no. We offer complete solu- tions from a single supplier, from cameras to recording and storage systems, all the way through to video management and analysis. To round off the security concept, we offer a range of cameras for the outdoor areas of a stadium. Depending on the area of application, either high-speed PTZ dome cameras, box cameras, or vandal-resistant dome cameras are used. The latter provide for safety and security in sensitive areas, too. Therefore the complete surroundings of the stadiums, including streets and access roads, are also reliably monitored. All cam- eras are equipped with the tried and trusted Cam_inPIX® technology; an image process- ing technology developed by Dallmeier to deliver detailed image material with high contrast and colour fidelity.
Q: What recording systems do you offer? A: For recording the image data, Dallmeier offers different recorders and servers,
