In addition to attending business sessions and workshops, the first couple was able to make a quick visit to nearby Niagara Falls. u GER Michael Smith and his wife, Sandra, visited RHODE ISLAND as part of a four-state trip to New England. During their visit, they were treated to lunch at the Coventry-West Greenwich Lodge, followed that evening by a formal banquet, which was attended by Elks and guests from across the state, held at the Woonsocket Lodge. Also during the banquet, GER Smith encouraged the Rhode Island Elks to Promote Elks Passion by staying involved in their communities and to be Proud, Loud, and Visible in their activities. u GER Michael Smith and his wife, Sandra, visited Newport, VERMONT, as part of a whirlwind four-state tour of New England. During their visit, they ate at the famous East Side Restaurant in Newport, accompanied a group of Ver- mont Elks on a boat trip to the Canadian border, and attended a banquet held at the Newport Lodge. During the banquet, the GER collected more than $400 in do- nations to the Elks National Foundation in return for signing the attending Elks’ membership cards. u GER Michael Smith and his wife, Sandra, traveled to Fond du Lac, WISCONSIN, to attend the Wisconsin Elks Association’s fall conference. The conference was held at the Fond du Lac Lodge, which is the oldest continually used lodge building in the Order. In addition to attending business meetings and workshops, the GER joined the Wisconsin Elks for a nine-hole golf tournament, and the first lady toured the campus of Marian University. The first couple also enjoyed a dinner held at the Fond du Lac Historical Society’s Galloway House, where they viewed a group of vintage automobiles parked on the house’s lawn. The first couple is pictured in the Wild Goat, a custom automobile that was built in 1962 in the Goodrich High School auto shop. The car belongs to a Fond du Lac Lodge member.
