Coquille Valley, OR, Lodge held a Chuck Black Memorial Golf Tourna- ment fund-raiser, in which 28 golfers competed, and raised $1,400 for the Elks National Foundation.
New York State Elks Association held a regional Soccer Shoot, in which about 50 boys and girls competed in four age-groups, at the Whitehall, NY, Lodge and gave trophies to the top three boys and girls in each age-group. Astoria, OR, Lodge held its annual Soccer Shoot and gave a trophy to
Florence, OR, Lodge and its PER Association each donated $1,200 to the Meadowood Springs Speech and Hearing Camp. Each donation paid for one child to attend a ten-day session featuring camp activities, games, sports, and one-on-one counseling for children with speech, hearing, and language disorders.
In other news, the lodge held a Car Show and Barbecue fund-raiser and raised more than $1,300 for Relay for Life, which raises funds for the
Saratoga-Wilton, NY, Lodge members attended a Court of Honor Ceremony for new Eagle Scout Philip Choiniere, of Boy Scout Troop No. 7, and presented him with a US flag and a certificate. For his Eagle Scout Project, Choiniere produced and performed in a musical production for about 75 patients at the Saratoga Care Nursing Home.
