Kingman, AZ, Lodge donated framed reproductions of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Gettysburg Address to the Kingman Academy of Learning Middle School student council, which used them to create a Heritage Wall at the school’s library. The lodge also donated a US flag to the school to be displayed in the school’s lobby.


Green Valley, AZ, Lodge members distributed dictionaries to 240 second-grade students in ten classes at Sahuarita Primary School and distributed thesauruses to 60 fourth-grade students in three classes at the Continental School. In other news, the lodge held its annual Soccer Shoot, in which about 100 children aged 13 and younger participated, and treated the contestants and volunteers to water and lunch. The lodge gave the first- and second-place boys and girls in each of four age-groups trophies and invited them and their families—a total of 85 people—to lunch at the lodge the following week.


In other news, lodge members treated 25 law enforcement officers and spouses to a September 11 Memorial Dinner at the lodge.


Mesa-Buckhorn, AZ, Lodge held a two-month-long Raffle fund-raiser, which featured a $500 shopping spree at a local grocery store as its grand prize, and raised more than $3,000 for the Elks National Foundation. In other news, lodge members gave dictionaries to about 300 third-grade

In more news, lodge members participated in the town’s annual September 11 Memorial Service. During the event, a lodge member acted as master of ceremonies and another lodge member raised and lowered the US and POW/MIA flags. The lodge also donated $650 to the local hospice; gave more than $500 to Operation Gratitude, which sends care packages to US troops serving overseas; donated $350 to the annual Lake Havasu City Fall Fun Fair; and gave $100 to Lake Havasu Charter School to help purchase dictionaries for third-grade students.
