Arcadia Valley (Arcadia), MO, Lodge members gave hundreds of drug awareness coloring books, ribbons, and pieces of candy to spectators at the 84th annual Arcadia Valley Fall Festival Parade in Ironton.


Dexter, MO, Lodge members staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer at the Stoddard County Fair and gave drug awareness materials to more than 500 children and parents who visited the trailer.


u LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ, Lodge members, along with Elroy the Elk, participated in the Havasu Coalition Against Drugs Parade and distributed hundreds of drug awareness flyers, brochures, red ribbons, coloring books, and stickers to spectators. Frederick, MD, Lodge members, with the help of scouts from lodge-spon- sored Boy Scout Troop No. 1998, staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer during the town’s annual In the Street Celebration. Lodge members talked to more than 3,000 children and adults and distrib- uted more than 1,000 drug awareness stickers, comic books, bookmarks, and rulers to visitors.


Maryland, Delaware and District of Columbia Elks Association presented Ocean City Police Corporal James Schwartz with a plaque from the Grand Lodge Drug Awareness Pro- gram for being the first runner-up for the national 2010 Enrique Camarena Award, which recognizes law enforce- ment officers for excellence in combat- ing drug abuse.


Flat Rock, MI, Lodge members staffed the Indiana Elks Association’s drug awareness trailer at the annual gathering of the Great Lakes Council of the Boy Scouts of America’s 100 Year Celebration and gave 2,500 drug awareness wristbands, 1,500 minia- ture soccer balls and basketballs, 2,000 bags, and about 25,000 pam-

phlets to scouts, parents, and volun- teers who attended the event.


Affton, MO, Lodge members awarded a plaque of appreciation to DARE Officer David Wilper to thank him for his work with the community.


Montana State Elks Association honored Flathead County Deputy Sheriff and Kalispell, MT, Lodge member Travis Bruyer and gave him a plaque for being a runner-up for the national 2010 Enrique Camarena Award, which honors law enforcement officers for their work in combating drug and alcohol abuse. Bruyer earned his award through his work on curbing underage drunk driving and teaching young people to make responsible decisions about alcohol.


Deming, NM, Lodge members gave drug awareness materials to about 100 people who attended their Kickoff Breakfast during the Great American Duck Race of Deming.


Las Vegas, NM, Lodge members gave a drug awareness bookmark and


u SEARCY, AR, Lodge donated $500 to Freedom Explosion, an event intended to encourage teenagers to make good decisions in their lives. Lodge members staffed a booth during the gathering and gave bags of drug awareness literature to 200 young participants.
