Lubbock, TX, Lodge, in cooperation with Guardians of Children, a non- profit organization that works to prevent child abuse, held a West Texas Wind Bash, which featured swimming, games, a car show, and live music. The event raised more than $4,000 for lodge charities as well as $4,000 for the Guardians of Children.


In other news, the lodge, with help from members of Guardians of Children and Bikers Against Child Abuse, held a free Halloween Carni- val, which more than 300 area children attended.


Texarkana, TX, Lodge, in cooperation with the Texarkana Dart Association, held a joint fund-raiser and raised $4,500 for the Red River Valley Down Syndrome Society.

In other news, the lodge held a First Responders Night and honored 15 local emergency services personnel in Kitsap County. The lodge also held a Murder Mystery Theater fund-raiser, which featured dinner and a theater performance, and raised more than $4,100 for the state major project, Washington Elks Therapy Program for Children, which provides in-home therapy to children with special needs.


Americanism Essay Contest in a ceremony at the lodge. Lodge members presented students Monica Pendleton, who finished first in the fifth- and sixth-grade division, and Heather Landes, who finished second in the seventh- and eighth-grade division, each with a plaque from the Virginia Elks Association.


Winchester, VA, Lodge members taught Boy Scouts who were attending a Boy Scout Camporee how to properly fold the US flag.


Greater Spokane, WA, Lodge mem-


bers attended a Court of Honor Ceremony for new Eagle Scout Chad Connolly, of Boy Scout Troop No. 497, and gave him a certificate and a US flag. For his Eagle Scout Project, Connolly built several raised flower beds for the Valley YMCA.


Two Rivers, WI, Lodge members distributed dictionaries to 200 third- grade students in five schools. In other news, lodge members served 1,400 spectators who attended the fifth annual Kites over Lake Michigan community event to roasted corn on the cob. ■
