attended. Several speakers paid tribute to the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and praised the service of America’s emergency service providers, military, and veterans. Lodge members treated all attendees to dinner and raised $500 in donations for the lodge’s Christmas Basket Program for needy families.


Southeast Central District, FL, lodges donated nearly $14,000 to the Harry-Anna Trust Fund, which supports the two state major projects, the Florida Elks Youth Camp and Florida Elks Children’s Therapy Services.


Melbourne, FL, Lodge members distributed nearly 170 dictionaries to third-grade students at the Dr. W. J. Creel School and Roy Allen Elementary School and donated 20 dictionaries to Habitat for Humanity to distribute to needy children. Pictured at the Dr. W. J. In other news, the lodge held a series of AARP Safe Driver Classes for lodge members and members of the public. In addition to providing attendees with safety information, attendance at the classes allowed some attendees to reduce their car insurance premiums. Nearly 20 people attended each class.


In more news, lodge members, performing as the Nu Kopy Katz, gave free singing and lip synching performances for about 65 people at Joe’s Club Adult Day Care and for about 175 volunteers at a party held at the King Center for the Performing Arts. Lodge members also donated 100 hand-knitted hats to Daily Bread, a local soup kitchen.


Vero Beach, FL, Lodge members honored the memory of the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in a ceremony at the lodge, which nearly 100 people attended. In other news, lodge members gave dictionaries to 100 third-grade students at Rosewood Magnet School.


Zephyrhills, FL, Lodge members gave dictionaries to 550 third-grade students at four elementary schools. In other news, the lodge donated $500 to the Dade City Woman’s Club to support the club’s Shoes for Chil- dren Program and donated $500 to the Atkins Group Home, a home for boys with developmental disabilities.


Atlanta-Northlake, GA, Lodge members distributed 230 dictionaries to third-grade students at Lilburn Elementary School.


Cartersville, GA, Lodge, using part of a $9,000 ENF Impact Grant, donated 100 intake kits containing toiletries to the Christian League for Battered Women’s Tranquility House.


Kona, HI, Lodge donated 40 lap blankets to the Life Care Center of Kona and the Hospice of Kona.


Davenport, IA, Lodge members distributed dictionaries to about 1,400 third-grade students, including students at 24 public and private schools and students being home schooled.
