#IBC2025 WELCOME TO IBC2025
I’m delighted to welcome you to IBC2025, the global destination for the media, entertainment and technology industry.
In the 12 months since the last show, we’ve continued to witness remarkable levels of change across all areas of the industry, both technological and operational. That’s why we’ve worked hard to ensure IBC2025 is the place to explore new ideas, discover emerging opportunities, learn from those who are leading the way, and experience the innovations that are helping organisations to futureproof their operations. Of course, none of this can happen in silos which is why our focus is on creating collaborative environments that don’t just enable conversations to take place but also provide the opportunity to move the debate forward, find solutions to challenges and help us all prepare for the future. Indeed, collaboration is a key theme
throughout this year’s show, nowhere more so than in the new Future Tech hub in Hall 14. Here, not only can you meet those companies that are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in media tech, but you can also hear from global technology leaders and agile start- ups who will be taking to the Future Tech Stage across all four days of the show. Future Tech is also home to the IBC Accelerator Innovation Programme, which returns with hands-on demos of the nine groundbreaking proof of concept projects that are solving some of the industry’s toughest practical challenges, from AI-driven production and content provenance to enabling sustainability and more flexible connectivity. Also hoping to find real-world solutions to industry challenges are the teams taking part in the IBC x Google Cloud Hackfest, which is happening on Saturday and Sunday. Tasks will include standing up broadcast infrastructure to create a FAST channel in Google Cloud, with participants innovating and creating with AI. After a successful dry run in London and Dublin I’m looking forward to seeing just what can be achieved here at the RAI.
Of course AI, and particularly agentic and generative AI, are two technologies that continue to dominate conversations and drive change across the industry, whether that’s streamlining workflows, improving the quality of content or delivering invaluable data-driven insights. While the potential of AI is clear, for those wanting to hear how it is already having an impact, the IBC Conference is a must attend. Speakers from ITV, Warner Bros. Discovery, ABC, Tubi, Netflix and more will be sharing their experiences.

Some of the best storytellers in the business will also be taking to the IBC Conference stage, including multi-Oscar winning editor Thelma Schoonmaker, who will also receive the International Honour for Excellence at the Innovation Awards on Sunday evening, and Jeff Wilson, a trailblazer in the natural history world at the BBC. Becoming Led Zeppelin director Bernard MacMahon and sound supervisor Nicholas Bergh have also flown in from Los Angeles to deliver an in-depth talk on the making of the record-breaking documentary ahead of a special screening and exclusive Q&A at the newly completed Cinema The Pulse tomorrow evening. While IBC2025 is, of course, focused on the future of our industry, we’re also taking the
time to look back at where it all began. This year marks 100 years since John Logie Baird’s first experimental television transmission in 1925. We’re marking this industry milestone with a new installation in Hall 14. 100 Years of Television is a curated journey through the past, present, and future of broadcast that highlights television’s enduring role in connecting audiences worldwide. It’s also an opportunity to consider what the next century of television and media could look like. Away from the extensive content
programme, we’ve got more than 1350 exhibitors from over 170 countries showcasing their latest products and services across 14 halls of the RAI. From the very latest in robotics and virtual production to the solutions that help to attract and engage viewers, deliver content effectively and respond to evolving expectations, there’s much to discover at IBC2025. I hope you enjoy the show.
