KVM CONNECTIVITY BREAKS NEW GROUND WITH JPEG XS IHSE

BY KEVIN EMMOTT

The JPEG XS codec has been implemented in an IP core for what IHSE claims is near-latency- free transmission of high-defi nition video, enabling resolutions of up to 10K and frame rates of up to 480Hz.

The company claims it is the world’s fi rst KVM manufacturer to implement the codec. The

JPEG XS Encoder IP Core is designed for use in devices with integral video transmission. It can be integrated into broadcast equipment such as cameras, and enables fl exible, application- and bandwidth-dependent scaling and compression of the image material. The encoding process excludes frame drops and allows for variable subsampling options, while user confi guration allows real-time bandwidth modifi cation. In addition, IHSE’s new hybrid

IP VIDEO ON THE GO AND IN THE CLOUD LiveU

BY KEVIN EMMOTT

With several product upgrades, LiveU is highlighting the openness and interoperability of its IP-Video EcoSystem on its stand. With integrations encompassing 5G, cloud and AI, the company is presenting real-time use cases across the video production chain. LiveU Studio is a cloud-native IP live video production service and is the fi rst to natively support the company’s LiveU Reliable

providing system designers with the ability to bridge multiple KVM matrix systems over an existing IP network. According to IHSE, this leads to enormous fl exibility, offering the advantages of both systems in one package. 7.A25

Transport (LRT) protocol. It is a scalable SaaS that can create and distribute live content across a variety of digital media channels. LiveU Studio supports multiple IP

video protocols and provides live switching, audio mixing, graphics, remote guest management and one-click distribution to up to 30 simultaneous digital destinations.

Meanwhile, designed to accelerate time-to-air and conversion of assets into digital media, LiveU Ingest provides automatic recording and story metadata tagging for cloud and hybrid production workfl ows. Ingest automates metadata association, reducing errors and storage costs by generating sub- clippings on the fl y while delivering lightning-fast storytelling. LiveU is also highlighting its LiveU Matrix product, an IP cloud video distribution service. 7.B19

MORE TEST AND MORE MEASUREMENT FOR MORE BROADCASTERS WorldCast Systems BY KEVIN EMMOTT

The Audemat MC6 is bringing WorldCast’s comprehensive test and measurement technology to both DAB and FM signals. Designed to help broadcasters, operators and regulation authorities achieve the best radio service for listeners, the Audemat MC6 builds on the Audemat FM MC5 and Audemat DAB Probe, offering more advanced features. It includes multi-DAB measurement capabilities with two receivers and additional multi-FM receivers. Sized to fi t into a shoulder bag, it is designed to withstand rigorous use in various fi eld conditions. Including DAB/FM drive tests, the option for

GoldenEar for mathematical and objective quality ratings of DAB and FM signals during the drive tests, and DAB/FM commissioning, it is said to offer precise and versatile signal measurement. WorldCast has also announced key updates to its Ecreso FM AiO series of low power transmitters. In addition to an existing offl ine backup on SD card, the Ecreso FM AiO series is also fi tted with an online audio backup supporting IceCast and ShoutCast streaming. With this new capability the transmitter ensures audio backups when the main sources are faulty. This means broadcasters can reuse an existing radio broadcast channel to enable the redundancy of its audio program. 8.C58
