The much-anticipated IBC Conference begins in the Forum today, starting with an IABM-led session at 09:30 entitled ‘State of MediaTech – Key Drivers of Change in 2023 and Beyond’. Moderator Lorenzo Zanni, Head of Insight & Analysis at IABM, will be joined by Jade Kurian, President and Co-founder, latakoo; Kishore A K, CTO, Zee; Aditi Pandey, Head of Vendor Management & Partnerships, NRK; and Allen Broome, CEO, MediaKind, as they discuss the research fi ndings and their implications for the industry. This is followed by ‘Plotting the


Effects of Disruption: Charting the new media ecosystem’. Media Cartographer Evan Shapiro will chart the effects of disruption across the global media ecosystem and highlight the opportunities to be found in navigating a brave and volatile new world.


At 11:15, Fiona Campbell, Controller Youth Audience, BBC iPlayer and BBC Three; Matt


Risley, Managing Director, 4Studio, Channel 4; and John Olivieira, Publisher, OneWorld, will discuss the creation, distribution and monetisation of content for the new kids in town in ‘Winning Over Gen Alpha: What broadcasters and brands need to action now’. The focus then shifts to content


localisation. ‘Pricing, Packaging & Localisation: Differentiating your streaming service in a crowded market’ sees Leah Hooper Rosa, EMEA Streaming & Global Integration Lead, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Liza Watts, Operations, YouTube Primetime Channels, sharing their experiences of being on the path to rolling out a new service and explaining what’s resonating with different markets. How to build an effective tech stack and keep innovating when technology moves at such a pace is the topic for the next panel, featuring Nitin Mittal, President Technology, Zee; Brian Lakamp, EVP, Media Supply Chain,

DOUBLE THE INSIGHT: CONTENT EVERYWHERE EXPANDS TO TWO STAGES


The Content Everywhere programme returns bigger and better for IBC2023, with two stages in Hall 5 offering a free-to-attend schedule of panel discussions and product demonstrations, specifi cally devised to help attendees explore the many aspects of the delivery and consumption of content over the internet. Panels today on Stage 1, sponsored by LTN, include ‘Planning the Transition from Linear to IP Distribution’ at 12:45. It features Gary Hamer, SVP Sales & Business Development at SmartLabs, and Jonas Engwall, CEO, Bedrock Streaming. They will explore the drivers for the shift towards IP-based distribution and how to leverage technologies that can improve effi ciency, time-to-market and audience engagement. ‘The Technical Challenges


of Live Streaming’ is the topic for the next panel discussion. Here, Anastazja Melnikova, Streaming Solution Architect, GCore; Luis López Chousa, Head CDN Balancer BU, NPAW; and Christophe Coquerel, Director of Application Engineering, VisualOn, will discuss different approaches to delivering scalable and reliable low-latency live streaming and the emerging opportunities for the application of AI and machine learning. The fi nal session of the day on Stage 1 will explore the potential of APAC’s online video market. Doyle Deng, Head of Product Management and Global Marketing at CDNetworks, will be sharing his insight.


Over on Stage 2, sponsored by Tencent Cloud International, sessions include ‘On the Money: How to choose a monetisation model’ at 13:30. A panel


featuring Roberta Cambio, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Brightcove; Chris Welsh, Head of Broadcast & OTT, International, Apptitude Software Group; and Shuki Eytan, General Manager, Kaltura, will discuss how a new service determines the available monetisation options and the key metrics that need to be monitored.


Another highlight on Stage 2 is ‘The State of Play in Cloud Adoption and Digital Transformation’ featuring Fred Sun, Head of Strategy, Tencent Cloud International; Jean Christophe Perier, Chief Marketing Offi cer, Globecast; and Sergio Delgado, Product Marketing Manager, Velocix. The Content Everywhere stages will also host demos from companies including SPI International, Intertrust, Fincons and Mux.
