MICROSERVICE APPS COME HOME Lawo
BY KEVIN EMMOTT BY ADRIAN PENNINGTON
Home apps are being launched at IBC by Lawo. Home Multiviewer, Home UDX Converter, Home Stream Transcoder and Home Graphic Inserter run on standard on-premise servers, in a data centre, or directly in the public cloud, using a minimum of compute power and energy.
The apps support SMPTE ST2110, SRT, JPEG XS and NDI, and their microservice-based architecture encourages adaptation to new formats in the future. More processing power for high-profi le occasions can be added with Lawo’s new Flex licensing. Also unveiled are licensable options for proxy generation and JPEG XS compression for the .edge hyper-density SDI/IP conversion and routing platform.
Two new options for the .edge platform are being unveiled
With a 32-in/16-out confi guration for .edge, the Proxies option offers up to 32 proxy generators in SD/ HD/3G, and up to eight generators in UHD with native ST2110-20 signals. Downscaled resolutions range from 1/4 through 1/64 and can be transported alongside the original output stream via a combined use of the 25Gbps and 100Gbps ports on each .edge processing blade. With support for ST2110-22 and NMOS, the JPEG XS option is available for both new and existing .edge customers. Providing JPEG XS encoding and decoding, up to 96 HD/3G or 24 UHD instances per 2RU can be used concurrently. 8.B90
A new console from Studer Audio is a highlight of the Evertz exhibit. Studer’s Vista digital mixing consoles now support SMPTE ST2110 and have been integrated into the Evertz Software Defi ned Video Networking (SDVN) platform, making them an important addition to the company’s live production workfl ows. The new Studer Vista Bravo is an addition to the Dreamcatcher Bravo Studio virtual production control suite. It provides virtual access to a full mixing console featuring enhanced audio capabilities whether working on-premises or through the cloud.

Other innovations to the range include expanded Vista control using the Evertz Vue Intelligent User Interface, and Video PFL (Pre-Fade-Listen). This new feature maximises Evertz’ Magnum-OS orchestration, monitoring and analysis software by allowing audio operators to select an input to pre-fade while listening to the audio and seeing the accompanying video for that channel on the multiviewer in the audio control room. 1.B79
