TECH INNOVATIONS AND TRANSFORMATIVE INITIATIVES RECOGNISED AT IBC AWARDS


This year IBC’s Awards have a new look and are more closely aligned with the content programme running throughout the show. Two award ceremonies will be held – The Innovation Awards and The Social Impact Awards. The Innovation Awards celebrate the technology, research and innovative thinking that is driving the industry forward in a new software- and services-led direction. The Social Impact Awards, meanwhile, are part of this year’s Changemaker Programme, with its theme of People and Purpose. They focus on diversity, sustainability and tech for good.


INTERNATIONAL HONOUR FOR EXCELLENCE AWARDED TO WARNER BROS. PICTURES


Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group is the recipient of this year’s International Honour for Excellence Award. The company, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, is being recognised for its ability to continually adapt to media and entertainment market changes.


Beginning as a pioneer in cinema, it has since emerged as a leader in every aspect of the entertainment industry – from feature film, television and direct-to-consumer production to animation, comic books, video games, consumer products and brand licensing. Warner Bros.’ vast library, one of the most prestigious and valuable in the world, consists of more than 145,000 hours of programming. The studio is also home to one of the most diverse portfolios of franchises in the world, including Looney Tunes, Wizarding World, DC, Friends, Game of Thrones, Hanna-Barbera and many more.

The IHFE Award will be presented during this year’s Innovation Awards ceremony, which takes place in the Premier Lounge at 18:00 on Sunday 17 September.


BEST TECHNICAL PAPER SHARES VALUABLE 5G INSIGHTS


For their work on deploying a 5G standalone non-public network at the coronation of King Charles III, Mark Waddell, Ian Wagdin and David Butler of the BBC, and Sam Yoffe, Kenny Barlee, Douglas Allan, Malcolm Brew and Robert Stewart of the University of


Strathclyde and Neutral Wireless, will receive this year’s Best Technical Paper Award. Chosen by experts from the IBC


Technical Papers Committee and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the paper was found to be exceptionally well-


written and materially relevant to the media industry, sharing valuable technical insight. The award will be presented during the Innovation Awards ceremony, which takes place in the Premier Lounge at 18:00 on Sunday 17 September.


All of this year’s Technical Papers will also be presented at the IBC Conference on 15-16 September.
