ACCENTURE TO EXPLORE AI AND CLOUD-BASED TRANSFORMATION

Media consulting services and solutions provider Accenture is hosting three sessions in the Showcase Theatre in Hall 12 between 14:45 and 17:30 today.

Explaining the thinking behind the sessions, Accenture Global Communications & Media Industry Lead Andy Walker remarks: “For us, a key aspect of our Showcase Theatre presence is to identify the main themes that we see in the industry, particularly around technology, and to explore how media companies are using that technology creatively and to digitise their businesses.” Accenture’s fi rst session is an examination of generative AI. “We’ll be looking at how this can serve as a growth engine for content innovation,” he reveals. “We are increasingly aware that media companies are beginning to explore generative AI – not to create whole new shows or movies, but to personalise content for users and improve the effi ciency of media production. The goal with this session will be to talk about the technology and explore potential applications for media in the near-future.”

Walker will be joined by Andy Beach, CTO, Media & Entertainment, Microsoft, and Tony Guarino, EVP Global Production & Studio Technology, Paramount, for this session. Session two is entitled ‘Challenging the

Streaming Dominance: What broadcasters need to know’, and will feature British TV communications company Everyone TV. The emphasis here, reveals Walker, will be on “how broadcasters can better compete with the streaming giants, and then in terms of content strategy how they can drive effi ciency through operations and product development. So we’re bringing in different broadcasters who have streaming services to talk about their approaches, how they have been successful, and the lessons they have learned.” The afternoon will conclude with a session exploring fan engagement, with contributors including F1 TV, who will discuss their new platform which brings a personalised

experience to viewers while capturing insights. The F1 TV service lets viewers tailor their experience, switching between live streams from track-side and on-board cameras. AI-generated, real-time subtitles in multiple languages support the global fanbase.

CLOUD PRODUCTION In addition, Accenture will participate in a session on Sunday about cloud production co-ordinated by media research & development organisation MovieLabs. While he has been a long-term NAB Show attendee, Walker only visited IBC for the fi rst time in 2022, although it’s clear he has become a rapid convert. “I thought it was fantastic and the conversations that we were able to have with clients and partners there were super-productive,” he says, noting that after the Covid-enforced industry event hiatus there was also a “collective exhalation that

people could go back to [in-person] business and engage with one another again”. At this year’s show – where Accenture also has

a presence in Room G104 of the RAI – Walker reveals some of the areas he is keen to discover more about. “I’ll be fascinated to learn what companies are doing with regard to digital content creation fl ows,” he says. “At NAB it was an area where some of the more interesting displays were put up, and indeed some of the hyperscalers have stitched a lot of those elements together. I’m keen to see what is being done in terms of [using those new technologies] for the entire supply chain in the cloud.”

Accenture is hosting sessions in the Showcase Theatre (12.A60) from 14:45-17:30 today.

These sessions are free to attend and no registration is required.
