The theme of this unit is computers. Two aspects of the use of computers relevant to medical students are addressed: their use for the provision of patient care and their use in areas related to medicine. Lessons 4.1, 4.3 and 4.4 guide students to a more efficient use of the Internet in research. Lesson 4.2 looks at the increasing use of computers in medicine. Students will need access to a computer with an Internet connection for some exercises. Check that all students have used the Internet. If any haven’t, sit them beside someone who has, to guide them.
