Living and working in our community


As a Foundation Trust, we are accountable to our local community through our members and elected governors.


By joining our organisation, our members have chosen to show their support and interest in how our hospitals are run. The involvement and participation of our members is very important to us.


We keep our members informed through a regular newsletter and create opportunities for them to meet the Board and governors. We provide members with insights into our services and on topics that interest them by holding Health Focus events, which feature talks from our clinicians. In the last year, topics have included elderly care, pain management and ambulatory care, with further talks scheduled for Fleming Park, in Eastleigh, on 17 October 2017 and Winchester on 28 November 2017. We also hold an Annual General Meeting with exhibition stands and the opportunity to meet staff, the governors and the Board each year.


Last year, we held open days for members and the public at our Winchester and Andover hospitals, both of which attracted significant interest from our local communities, opening up areas of interest and providing activities for all ages. Following on from these successful events, we are holding an open day at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital on Saturday 30 September 2017.


Our governors give talks to community groups about becoming a member and the role of governors at our Trust. If you would like a governor to come and speak at your community group, contact us at governors@hhft.nhs.uk.
