Our Strategy
Our mission is to provide care locally where possible, and centrally where necessary for patient safety.
We are working closely with our commissioners and our other health and social care partners to find the best way to sustain quality acute care in north and mid Hampshire. This is a programme of work that operates within the Local Care System, part of the Sustainability and Transformation Plan, which is actively exploring how we can collaborate with our partners in primary, community and social care to provide services for our patients. We are also working closely with our partners to find a solution that will provide sustainable services for critical care such as heart attacks, strokes and major trauma for the population we serve.
In spring 2016, we involved our community in an eight- week conversation to seek people’s current views of our services and get their thoughts on our future challenges.
The activity included a widely distributed survey which achieved 1,583 responses online and a further 806 responses from a face-to-face on-street questionnaire. Patient and public confidence in our current services and satisfaction with our local hospitals both achieved an overall rating of 8/10.
In terms of services people would like to access even more locally, blood testing, outpatient clinics, physiotherapy and elderly care were top of the wish-list. This feedback from members and the public was fed into future plans. The full report is available on our website

32 A visual concept of the proposed Cancer T reatment Centre
Ark Cancer Centre Charity’s fundraising for a Cancer Treatment Centre made good progress. In the last two years, £1.1million has been raised, taking the running total to £1.6million of the £5million the charity is striving to raise to help fund the centre.
Public support for the charity and the Cancer Treatment Centre continues to go from strength to strength and a number of big fundraising events took place over the course of last year, including a cycle trek from John O’Groats to Land’s End that raised more than £50,000 for the charity.
Mr Merv Rees, Ark Cancer Centre Charity Trustee, said: “I am grateful to every single person who has supported the charity’s appeal through fundraising events or donations, and I know our wonderful local community will continue to back Ark Cancer Centre Charity throughout 2017 and beyond. Thank you all for your generous support.”
