Highlights of the year 2016/17
Our commitment to improving end of life care was highlighted in the results the End of Life Care Audit – Dying in Hospital. We scored higher than the national average in all five clinical indicators and also successfully fulfilled seven of the eight organisational audit indicators.
We celebrated our hyper acute stroke unit at Winchester receiving an overall rating of A in a Stroke Sentinel National Audit Programme (SSNAP) audit for the first time. An overall score of 89 per cent placed it as top out of all such units in the Wessex region, and joint third for the whole of England and Wales.
April 2016 The top class care we
provide for mothers and babies was recognised by UNICEF and the World Health Organisation, who awarded all three of our hospitals Baby Friendly accreditation.
May 2016
We launched a new one-day course in Paediatric Acute Illness Management, aimed at helping all clinical staff who come into contact with children, whether that be in the emergency departments, theatres, critical care, or paediatric wards.
