Our community children’s nursing service launched the “Hear I Am” patient voice programme, which gives parents and carers of children with health needs the skills and support to help shape services.

The dementia team acquired special suits that help staff understand the effects of ageing and dementia. The suits impair the user’s mobility, vision and hearing, making everyday tasks markedly harder.

Our award-winning and pioneering Labour Line has been extended to pregnant women in Portsmouth. The vast majority of women across Hampshire are now covered by the service, which we lead in partnership with Portsmouth Hospitals, University Hospital Southampton and South Central Ambulance Service.

Each ward and area across our Trust is now led by a clinical matron, a role we developed to ensure that our senior nurses, therapists and midwives are providing care and managing the wards. Each matron is responsible for the running of an individual ward and they spend 80% of their time working clinically.

We rolled out a new telephone system called Netcall, which has numerous functions to improve communication between staff and patients.

We were highlighted for improving the quality of life for people living with diabetes during the Quality in Care Diabetes 2016 National Awards. Our group education initiative was highly place in the Patient Care Pathway Adult category.
