East Cork Greyhounds Jet an Easy Winner of Feature

Kilcree by BARRY DRAKE

Aulton Jet (Droopys Jet-Heathlawn Flame) took the feature contest in Youghal on Friday night last which was the final of the Gain Southern Sprint. Trained by Michael En- right for Patrick Hogan, the classy performer brought his winning tally to 15 wins from 18 career starts and brought home the €3,000 first prize. After a fly- ing start, Aulton Jet (4-6) moved three lengths clear into the

opening corner,

punters who took the short price never had a moment’s worry as he galloped all the way home to beat Princess Scampie, by three and a half

lengths in a stunning 17.42. The winning time

was eight spots off the track record set by Lemon Clover back in 1996, and the fastest time posted this year. Ardera Captain (Archa- ton Pine-Ardera Moments) made a very impressive win- ning debut in race two for local owner Michael O’Sul- livan. The 2-1 winner driv- ing a lovely opening corner to get around in front, he powered clear to beat Sun- field Jimmy, by seven and a half lengths, in 29.88. Hollyhill Zippy (Aero Majestic-Ballydorgan Lass) ran out a very convincing winner of the finale for Gerard Gubbins, Fermoy. The 5-2 chance showing massive early gears en route to a seven-length victo- ry. The winning time was 29.57.

Gold (Lenson

Bolt-Castlehale Joy) came home strongly to take race five for Bill Shannon, Bally- hooly. The May puppy took up the running at halfway and held the running on Butter Bau, by a length and a half, in 29.60, making it back to back wins for the youngster. The winner was sent off at 2-1, as Geelo Blackjack was sent off the well-backed 6-4 jolly but could manage fifth. Donal Dot Magic (Bal- lymac Vic-Goulane Bailey) took the opener for Donal O’Shea and trainer Colin Townend. A 5-2 chance in the ring, she was winning for the first time on her eight career outing, she led early and was five lengths too good for Ardera Heidi, in 30.08. other to open his account in race three. Owned by Ju- lia O’Neill, the 6-4 chance broke well and soon over- took Tavern Dee, pulling away to beat

the former

by two and three-quarter lengths, in 18.35. Buddys Madam (Ace Hi Rumble-Madam Shaw) was back to winning ways in race four. Owned by John Coleman, the 3-1 chance broke well to lead early. Back to top form, she had eight and a half lengths to spare over Bengali, in 29.74. The well-drawn Dower

Ruby (Kinloch Brae-West- hams Girl) made no mistake in race seven for local own- er Rita Kelleher. The 5-4 winning favourite

showed

her usual big early gears to get around in front. Making it ten career wins, she had four lengths to spare over Twilight Echo, in 30.04.
