• The winning team at our christmas quiz. it

What a fantastic week has been. Thursday

was finally the day of our popular annual Christmas Quiz. We filled The Stir- rup Bar with lots of teams. Everyone in the bar were extremely hospitable and were supplied with enough food to feed an army! We had ten rounds of fun,

Seandún Macra Weekly Update The Seandun final of

Capers, a 20 minute light entertainment competi- tion, was held on Sunday 27 November in Eine Óg GAA grounds in Ovens where Kinsale Macra stole the show and were award- ed first place. In addition the club was also award- ed best director (Mau- reen O’ Regan) and Best Act (Can’t Help Falling in Love With You). Other performances on the night were from Whitechurch Macra, who reached the National Capers Final in last year’s competition and who finished runners up in the Seandun final, with Glanmire and Carrigaline making up the stellar line- up on the night. All 4 acts were of an incredibly high standard and would have

been deserving of the chance to represent Se- andun in the next round of the competition. How- ever only two acts are able to progress and so Kinsale and Whitechurch will now proceed to the next stage of the competition. Other awards on the night were presented to James Brown, Carrigaline for best male and Aisling Walsh, Glan- mire for best female per- formance. Seandun Macra have

organised an informa- tion evening at Goldcrop, Carrigtwohill on the 12 December at 8pm. Gold- crop is Ireland biggest assembler, importer and distributor of all seed types in Irish markets. Presenta- tions will cover the process of breeding new varieties

and producing grass seed, picking the best varieties for your farm, how to get the best economic return from your pasture and new reseeds, the role of maize, beet and forage brassicas in complementing grass, a discussion on the applica- tion of reseeding/alterna- tive crops on farms and a tour of the seed and ware- house facilities at Gold- crop. Refreshments will be provided afterwards. All welcome! The following night Tuesday 13 Decem- ber the Seandun Debating Final will take place. Hav- ing beaten Carrigaline in the last round, Knockraha will now take on Glanmire to battle it out for the Se- andun title which certainly promises to be a very en- tertaining debate.

including a picture round and everyone’s favourite, “Dingbats”. There was an amazing array of priz- es on the raffle table and we were all feeling festive, with some of us sporting our favourite Christmas Jumpers! All our hard work paid off, when we counted our money and

realised we had raised a massive €560! All proceeds will go towards decorating CUH children’s ward with Balloons for Christmas. We cannot wait to see the children’s faces, when we arrive with the fabulous balloon creations from Red Balloon with thanks to Jenny Murphy!

• The winner of the best team. To celebrate and con-

tinue with the festive spirit, we all headed out on the town on Friday night. We started off with finger food in the Bodega and danced the night away on the tiles!! There was no time to rest however, as we travelled to Meath on Sunday to com- pete in the not one, but two

National finals! Although unsuccessful on the day, we enjoyed every minute of it and met clubs from all over the country in the process. Congratulations to Kilken- ny Macra who came away as champions on the day! We look forward to filling you in on our trip to CUH in our next update!
