Golf Society The final outing for
the society for 2016 took place on Saturday De- cember 3rd
at West Wa-
terford Golf Club. The Christmas scramble
is a
fun outing and is a great way for beginners to get involved
in the society
and it was very well sup- ported. There was a great buzz in the clubhouse be- forehand, mainly, due to the complimentary ‘Hot Toddies’ courtesy of Mr Austin Spratt
Waterford GC. It
from West is
the Dungarvan venue the
twenty fourth year to hold the Christmas Scramble at
and it is of great benefit to both parties. The course was in great condition and it is a credit to Austin and his staff that
the course
is so well presented for all visitors. Ray Rochford combined players to bal- ance out teams and level out the competition. The winners on an impressive 70 were Tommy Galvin, Patsy Collins and Declan
Galvin, second place on 71 were Sean Treacy, Joe Higgins and Tim Mur- phy and in third place on 72 were Tom Fitzgerald, Haulie Collins and Cor- mac Cremin. Best under- age on 73 was Keane Kel- ly Budds, Cathal Deane and Ruardhi McSweeney. There was a prize
for
everyone who took part on the day which was well received. While present- ing the prizes, Mr Tim Crotty thanked all those who turned up to play in this end-of-season ‘Fun Scramble’, he
thanked
Austin and the hard work- ing staff at West Water- ford for their hospitality throughout the day and for presenting a fabulous course on which to play. He
thanked Dominic
and Maurette Fogarty for once again sponsoring the outing, thanked Dr. Matt

SCHOOLGIRLS LEAGUE U14 Riverstown 3-3 Youghal United Sponsored by Applegreen Cork Hill With the Youghal
girls
now third in the league we traveled to Riverstown to try and put pressure on the top two. With a near full squad we made very few chang- es from our last game. We started very bright and for the first 20 minutes most of the the game was played in the Riverstown half. Joy in goal had very little to do and our back three of Zu- zanna, Kate and Ava along with Agatha sitting in front of them broke down every attack with ease. With half time fast approaching and the score still 0-0 we hadn’t made use of all the posses- sion that our midfield quar- tet of Ciara, Hannah, Kel- lie and our captain of the day Blaithin had. However following on from a throw
Hannah put in a superb ball putting Molly and Emily threw the middle with Emi- ly going one on one with the keeper and burying it in the bottom corner. it’s the least we deserved from all the battling we had done in midfield. The halftime whis- tle was nearing and our girls were creating chance after chance but were finding it hard to get a shot passed the impressive Riverstown goalie. Just before the half- time whistle Molly put in a corner and following a bit of a scramble in the box Kellie put it away and put us in a very good position at halftime. Halftime: 0-2 The second half turned
out to be a different event and we
Blaithin at
lost our Captain halftime to a
dead leg which was a pure sign of the battling she did all day. However her sister Aoibhe filled in for her who we are delighted to welcome back from injury. Rivers- town made a few changes at halftime,
the most notable
was to take there goalie out a put her in a midfield po- sition. This is what resulted in them getting a goal back

not long after the restart. With our noses still ahead the girls went on the attack. This time
Emily closed
down a poor clearance from the Riverstown defence and put Kellie in to put her sec- ond goal away for the day. With 20 minutes to go and two goals up we should have put this one to bed but very late on Riverstown got two goals back. One from a very unlucky deflection and the other from a scramble in the box from a free at the edge of the box. This was defi- nitely a case of two points lost
rather than a point
gained. We have to take the positives from the day as we were by far the better team and are still holding our own in the league. Final score 3-3. Today was a tough pill to swallow but I’m sure we will bounce back for our final game of 2016 with a home game against Kinsale. To pick Player of the match today was a real tough one for the coaches because of some many good perfor- mances but it was given to Kellie. Kellie got two great goals today and is now our joint top scorer. Well done Kellie
keep up the good eastcorkjournal work.

MUNSTER JUNIOR CUP 2ND ROUND Rockmount 3 - 5 Youghal United (AET) Youghal
last mount in the 2nd
tough game for the seasiders who are on a great run of form at the moment. They took the initiative after 15 minutes with David Herlihy putting them one up and that’s the way it stayed until the second half. Rockmount
equalised
nearly straight away in the second half
and Youghal
found themselves 2-1 down on 70 minutes. A sloppy 25 minutes from Youghal saw them having to chase the game. They got on top again but were made to wait for an equaliser and with less than 10 minutes remaining, got it through Leigh Desmond. That saw the game go to ex- tra time but again Youghal found themselves a goal be- hind as Rockmount made it 3-2. Again though Youghal showed their never say die attitude and came back at Rockmount to make it 3-3 through Cian Daly. Youghal seemed to up up

round of
the Munster Junior Cup. The 3rd
awaited the winners was a home draw against UCC F.C. who play in the A.U.L. This turned out to be a very
round draw that
travelled to to play Rock-
it a gear from here on in, and two more goals from Mark O’Connor and Niall Farrell saw them take the victory in a very tough con- test and a place that is hard to get any kind of decent result. This was a great re- sult for the lads and again like most of the draws in the cups this season, thankfully
